NU is a charming boutique hotel located in the midst of all that is Brooklyn while remaining an oasis from the hustle and bustle. With family in Carroll Gardens we are frequent Brooklyn visitors. We have previously rented apartments and stayed in other hotels but found our recent 4 days at NU to be one of the best experiences yet! Located at the intersection of Smith and Atlantic the hotel is a convenient stepping off point for all Brooklyn and Manhattan attractions - either on foot or via nearby subway access. The staff is friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The rooms are large - by NYC standards - and very hip with murals from local artists. We enjoyed sleeping "under the Brooklyn Bridge" and reading the artist's bio provided near the entrance to our room. We loved the cleanliness of the laminate flooring - rather than carpet - and appreciated the attention to environmentally safe products and recycling bins. The bed/bedding was as comfortable as our Sleep Number at home. The flat screen TV, refrigerator and abundance of in-room beverages and snacks (for purchase) facilitated a relaxing retreat after long days on NYC streets and there was always the option of socializing in the lobby bar. Continental breakfast (included) was tasty, plentiful and available during convenient hours. Free wi-fi performed flawlessly during the many work hours that I unfortunately had to log while there. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone.
