Defiently a must! The building in itself is worth visiting. Then the ancient Egyptian exhibit is worth seeing. When we went, mthey had a very modern exhibit which was so unusually attractive. There are some Rodin sculptures and much more...take at least four hours or a full day. We had a excellent lunch at the museum restaurant. Visit the museum store...I bought a glitche for reasonable price.

The Brooklyn Museum, a short hop from Times Square by Subway (2, 3), is one of NYC's greatest attractions, well worth the "suggested" admission of $12.00 - less than half the going rate of midtown galleries and musea. Judy Chicago's Dinner Party, an outstanding selection of American art and a superb special exhibition of John Singer Sargent's watercolours are well worth the visit. Wow!

The museum is steps from a subway stop so it is easy to reach. The exhibit was wonderful although I wouldn't recommend the museum cafe. Admission is a "voluntary" $12 per person although I didn't see anyone step up to the ticket counter and volunteer to pay less than $12!

I have been coming to the Brooklyn Museum since I was a child. The new improvements have really opened it up and brought it back to it's original grandeur. It has parking and a deal that goes along with the Botanical Gardens which is a must see for tourists. It has wonderful exhibits along with an excellent collection of it's own. I went to see the Sargent watercolors which were as lovely as expected but also thoroughly enjoyed the artist Al Anatsui exhibit in which he turned garbage like twist ties and tin cans into amazing art.

Really enjoyed several of the exhibits, good size museum - you can take it all in, nice gift shop. Cafe was not as appealing.
