We went there early September and expected a high quality of all collections based on reviews and tour guides. This is certainly the case for the Assyrian and Egyptian rooms. But European art is a modest display with few top pieces. Also the modern art collection is modest with not the best Hopper or Segal. Only the dinner party by Judy Chicago is top. Fortunately we could enjoy the Brooklyn heights in the evening....

We traveled from Westchester to this gem of a museum and it was well worth it. You have to check what the current exhibit is because it is a small place but they do things right. The outside of the building is special and one is reminded that at one time Brooklyn was a city separate from the other boroughs of NY. We went to see a specific exhibit and it was displayed perfectly. I did not have a chance to see the entire museum but I am sure based upon what I saw that there are more good things to see there.

Terrific museum with high ceilings and wide corridors. Top notch exhibits especially American and European art. Do not miss Judy Chicago's Dinner Party, an homage to famous women in history. Admission is "suggested donation" for seniors it is $8.50 but they accept any donation. Cafe serves light meals.

This museum is beautiful inside and out--high ceilings, wide hallways. Wonderful American collection and interesting European art, especially French impressionist and Russian. The crown jewel is the "Dinner Party" by Judy Chicago which highlights famous women in history in an unusual, large work of art. Read how this developed and about other famous women in history. There is a cafe and the museum is close to subway stations. Do not miss this great museum.
