What a terrific day we had at the Aquarium . Arrived Sunday at 10 AM when they opened and before they became too crowded. Wonderful exhibits, staff on hand to answer all the grand children's questions, and some hands on exhibits. Loved watchingt the Penquins getting fed, and the Sea Lion Show was terrific.....including seeing the Sea Lion up close ( not to touch) but to do a selfie is you wished!!! The different species of fish and the colors, shapes, and sizes will leave you breathless.

There are tables where you can eat...if you have brought snacks and a drink, that is absolutely fine to eat out in the open or in a covered pavilion where you can watch the ocean and ships.

We went to the 4D movie and it was fun...we even got sprayed with mist from the screen!! We were a family of two boys, Benjamin 8 and Sammy 6, two parents in their 40's , and two grandparents---21 plus!!! Each of us said it was a wonderful learning experience and we plan on a return visit.

Thank diana z

We went there this week with two children. The facility was hit hard by the storm of 2 years ago and is showing two more years until they're back to normal. The facility is small and overwhelmed by summer camp groups from around the city. It's simply not capable of handling all of these camp groups and an individual family gets trampled on as these groups move from place to place. The camp groups seem understaffed to control their children. If you go, go late in the day after the camp groups go home. The whole facility can be seen in under two hours. Don't plan on eating in the park. It's expensive beyond even NY standards, pretty weak in variety and quality. You can do far better on Surf Avenue or even on the boardwalk.

Net: they're really not ready to go. They're honest about it on their web sites and also at their ticket boots. They downplay expectations. They don't overachieve on those low expectations. Come back in 2016. It could be really good

The Aquarium should be ashamed of themselves to keep it open while they go through a renovation. Almost every exhibit has been shut down since Hurricane Sandy and it will be at least another 2 years until its complete. I literally walked through the Aquarium in 8 minutes. There are two fish tanks, a pool with a walrus, a pool with a sea lion and a pool with a couple of penguins. There is also 1 live show if you want to wait based on their schedule. The worst part is that they charge full price for admission. When you look at their website, there is a tiny link to click on (which can easily be missed) that says some portions are closed. SOME?? Its basically just about ALL. Its unfortunate. The least they can do is change half price if they decide to remain open. Fortunately, I am a WCS member and did not pay the fee but even so, it was not worth my time.

Hopefully the aquarium will be nice when its finalized and have some cool upgrades from the previous years but right now, I would stay clear of this "Aquarium" until its complete.

The aquarium is very small compared to most other aquariums around the country, but it is still a very nice aquarium. There are tons of different exhibits, both indoors and outdoors. The best times to visit are around mid morning or mid afternoon. Be sure to check the weather as some of the exhibits are outside.

Never been to the NY Aquarium, so I don't know what it was like pre-Hurricane Sandy. Now it's basically a few fish tanks, penguins, walruses and a sea lion show (which was pretty fun). While it was a little underwhelming, I was okay with paying full admission if it means they can renovate.
