Owner description: Situated on 14 acres by the sea in Coney Island, the Aquarium is home to over 8,000 animals. The Aquarium provides an enjoyable experience for the whole family. See friendly walruses, amazing sharks, playful sea otters and so much more.

The Aquarium should be ashamed of themselves to keep it open while they go through a renovation. Almost every exhibit has been shut down since Hurricane Sandy and it will be at least another 2 years until its complete. I literally walked through the Aquarium in 8 minutes. There are two fish tanks, a pool with a walrus, a pool with a sea lion and a pool with a couple of penguins. There is also 1 live show if you want to wait based on their schedule. The worst part is that they charge full price for admission. When you look at their website, there is a tiny link to click on (which can easily be missed) that says some portions are closed. SOME?? Its basically just about ALL. Its unfortunate. The least they can do is change half price if they decide to remain open. Fortunately, I am a WCS member and did not pay the fee but even so, it was not worth my time.

Hopefully the aquarium will be nice when its finalized and have some cool upgrades from the previous years but right now, I would stay clear of this "Aquarium" until its complete.

The aquarium is very small compared to most other aquariums around the country, but it is still a very nice aquarium. There are tons of different exhibits, both indoors and outdoors. The best times to visit are around mid morning or mid afternoon. Be sure to check the weather as some of the exhibits are outside.

Never been to the NY Aquarium, so I don't know what it was like pre-Hurricane Sandy. Now it's basically a few fish tanks, penguins, walruses and a sea lion show (which was pretty fun). While it was a little underwhelming, I was okay with paying full admission if it means they can renovate.

This used to be a local gem. Not any more. After the disaster that was Hurricane Sandy, the aquarium is now bare bones with many of the exhibits closed and many of the larger animals no longer residing. So, there is less to see or do, but they have the nerve to charge full price. NOT a good value.

I visited last year after Sandy destroyed most of the park. It was sad to see that most of the aquarium is under construction. When I visit this year it looks just like last year. Not one new exhibit. I will not return until they renovate. There was too many people and nothing to see.
