Me and MY husband travelled to NYC last July for 12 days. We pre-booked tickets to the Aquarium online before our holiday as we new we would be taking a day trip to Coney Island to try Nathans Famous Hot Dogs :-)
We travelled on a very overcast morning by subway. By the time we reached Coney Island it was a glorious day. We went straight to the Aquarium which is a short walk from the subway stop. There were a few summer camp trips there but it was not too crowded. We followed the signs and done the main attractions and interactive parts of the aquarium and finished with the scheduled Sea Lion show. The Sea Lion show is amazing. We got seated at the front very early, it filled quickly. The staff kept everyone amaused whilst we waited getting everyone to sing the spongebob theme tune, all the kid loved it. The Show is great fun, you get to see up close how smart these animals are, dancing, stickingthere tongues out, kissing and swimming.

The aquarium is still not fully opened after Sandy, but it is still functional and serves the purpose. I truly enjoyed the show with the sea lions, it was fascinating. What brilliant creatures. the shark tank is still closed though so that was a bit disappointing but as soon as it's opened, I will be back.

Enjoyed a great day there yesterday. The renovations after Sandy looked great. They are continuing to rebuild and will be expanding. It was pretty crowded, but not overwhelming. We were able to get good seats for the Seal Lion show. Got to see the their new Walrus addition, but he was sleeping! Will be going back again!

Considering it is still recovering (some mainstay sites are still under construction/renovation) from the damage done by Hurricane Sandy, I'd say the place is looking pretty good. The marine animals all look healthy and happy :-). We especially enjoyed the show (seals Diego and company) and watching feeding times. The staff are friendly and helpful. We hope to come visit again when the renovation is completed.

Went here on a Wednesday morning and there were hardly any people there. Granted, Sandy did quite a number on the place, but it was perfect for my almost 2 year old. we were able to sit front row at the sea lion show and have a great view of all of the marine animals. It will probably take another year to fully restore, but it's location right on the boardwalk and proximity to nathan's, the rides, ice cream and the beach make for a great day out!
