Huge park, quiet and calm. Really nice for a relaxed walk. Huge lawns with lot of space without being desolate.
Prospect park has an outdoor roller skating/ice skating rink that is great. Being able to roller skate outside you can feel the breeze and the sun it was so much fun. I would definitely recommend going there. They also have a small water area for the kids, paddle boat rentals and bike rentals you can spend the whole day there.

A friend and I went first thing in the morning on a Friday. It wasn't too busy but enough people around to feel safe it was an excellent place to exercise. Even saw a movie being shot there.
Brooklyn residents will tell you that Olmstead and Vaux avoided the mistakes that they made with Central Park when designing this magnificent park. It is easily reached by several subway lines and can be visited as a day trip in combination with a trip to historic Park Slope where there are many fine restaurants, the Brooklyn Museum and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Much of the largest battle of the American Revolution was fought in what is now the park and Park Slope. The latter is the site of the largest historic district in New York City. There is an attractive skating rink, a small zoo and boating on a small lake in the park.
