“Best park in NYC!”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

This well used park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the designers of Central Park, but Prospect Park is bigger, and, well, more Brooklyn-y. It's beautiful, its landscape is varied, and it is lively, all year round. Best of all are the off-leash hours on the Long Meadow, where dog lovers can watch local pooches frolic before 9 AM. The dog beach is particularly entertaining.

Whatever you might like to do in a park you can do here -- it is Central Park without the crowds, lots of space to spread out in, and barbecue pits at several locations..

“What a wonderful park”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

I grew up a few blocks from the park, and while I don't live in Brooklyn anymore, I visit often, and almost all my visits include Prospect Park, any time of year. The park has a great loop to run in. I think it's about 3-4 miles for the outside loop. It's varied, a little hilly, and beautiful. There are a bunch of varied playgrounds. I like the Vanderbilt one, as it's easy to park nearby, has very newly refurbished play areas, and a pizza and ices shop right across the street. It's also right by the beautiful lake. They recently opened an ice skating rink that we tried out in December. It was very nicely done, with an covered rink and an outdoor part. The rental skates weren't great, but we loved it there. There are lots of great spots for all sort of things. Concerts, picnics, sports, etc. It's so nicely laid out (designed by the same guy that's designed Central Park, Golden Gate Park, the Boston Fens, and it seems most major American parks).
