The little zoo is well worth a visit, even for big kids like us. Watching the sea lion feeding was fun and there's lots to see. Well worth the $8 entrance.

The park itself is lovely and worth a wander through. Visit the Lefferts House Museum for a bit of history.

Prospect park is a very large park with quite a few entrances. I recommend using the Grand Army Plaza entrance. Take the #3 train from Manhattan and get off Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.. Its about a 40 min ride from Manhattan. Grand Army Plaza is pleasent with a fountain in the middle. The Brooklyn Public Library is just outside the park. It is a very large public library. Go on a warn sunny afternoon on a weekend, Alot of people frequent the park on weekends. On weekdays park is kinda empty so its not safe to venture deep into the park. When you enter the park about a 1/4 mile in you'll see a large grassy field with lots of people sitting on the grass, playing frisbee and dogs romping and playing. Nice to pack a lunch and sit in sun .The park has many nice trees. On a nice summber day they are full and pretty, in early Autumn the colors are really nice. Deeper in th he park there also is a lake. One train stop away is the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Both have entrance fees.

We went to the Skateathon & did 8 laps equaling a marathon. The park is very nice, water, lots of trees, many people walking, biking, skating. The lanes are sectioned off pretty well so no accidents occur. Its mostly ok pavement, but there are a few very rough & crumbling spots that can be very dangerous on inlines especially. There is a long & steep hill that'll really kick your butt. Loved the downhill. Would definitely go back.

On a short visit to Brooklyn we strolled through the park on an late Saturday afternoon. There were families and couples everywhere picnicking and enjoying the beautiful day marking the end of summer. Children and adults were friendly, and as we left Brooklyn to head back to Minnesota, we promised each other we'd come back again to explore other parts of this neighborhood park.

We saw this park as a prelude to Central Park to understand the design of Olmstad. It was kept pretty clean and had nice features.
