It is still worth the price to visit the gardens in the Fall. The new Visitor's Center is beautiful and you can fine many nice gifts in the new Gift Shop. The Japanese Gardens are worth the visit as well as just wondering around.

Great expanse of botanical delights. Well organised and 'hidden' gems around every corner. We visited at the end of a busy sightseeing day and absolutely loved it.The hothouses were particularly atmospheric. So much to see....give yourselves lot of time, not to be rushed

The Botanic Garden is Brooklyn is absolutely wonderful. The Japanese Garden is one of my favorites and it a MUST to visit that during the Cherry blossom season. There is so much to see and experience in this garden so allow plenty of time to enjoy its beauty.

Have been several times with our granddaughter, who loved the water fountains! It is free on Tuesday/Saturday am and free for over 62's on Friday! Still may want to make a donation.
Cafe is good and has a wide range of quite healthy options. On a sunny day a great place to soak up the rays and relax - baby asleep in stroller.
Staff are very helpful and have a nice way of letting you know if you have broken the rules - e.g. not laying out a large blanket on the grass - blocks the sunlight and flattens grass, if repeatedly done - sensible and fair.

Allied to a visit to Prospect park a good morning/afternoon out "en famille".

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is easily accessible by public transportation in the heart of Brooklyn. Busses stop a few feet from the main gate and the subway station is one block away. The gate staff were not very helpful but there are maps on a rack beside the admissions booth.

The gardens are beautiful but difficult to manage in terms of reading the signs that are very small and located low to the ground so expect to spend a lot of time kneeling and bending to the ground if you are interested in reading the FINE print describing the various, plants flowers and shrubbery.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL to not loose any members of your party the gardens are not clearly marked nor are there any directional signs; if someone gets lost it will be very difficult finding them because are no centralized markers or meeting places. This is not a problem for older people but it can be a real nightmare for younger school aged patrons. There is an administration building with a security desk but this too is hidden away in a difficult location.

Basically I found the Gardens to be beautiful, tranquil and accessible to public transportation but once inside I felt it was not very family user friendly. I highly recommend this attraction as an individual or couple destination especially for nature lovers and gardeners.
