Owner description: Opened in 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge provides passage between Brooklyn and Manhattan for motorists, trains, bicycles and pedestrians. One of the primary symbols of New York City, it is a marvel of design and provides spectacular views of the city's skyline.

The walk from canal street across the Brooklyn Bridge was a treat. The night was clear and plenty of people was out and about, such a nice touch to have experience.

Review the Brooklyn Bridge? Why not review the Pyramids at Giza or the Acropolis? This monument to the urban ambition of New York, the Imperial City in now dwarfed by the buildings around it and yet, it seems to be mocking them with its fierce originality. Built to connect the cities of New York and Brooklyn in 1883, it has been a major artery ever since.
It's excting to see it from a ferry, better yet to walk it from one borough to another. Try for a sunny spring morning and be part of the crowd making its way to work. The view is magnificent and reminds you of the part that water played in the early days of New York's greatness.
In the spirit of full disclosure, The Brooklyn Bridge was my high school mascot. Right, the mascot: it was that kind of high school.

The Brooklyn bridge must be the only attraction in New York which looks better on screen than in real life...the bridge up and close is definitely disappointing! None of the architectural beauty which one finds in the bridges over the Siene or elsewhere in Europe is found on this bridge. To top it, half the bridge from the Manhattan side is surrounded by an ugly scaffolding. Its worth a walk provided you have plenty of time, and just to tick off your list. The views from the bridge are good no doubt (at the moment spoilt by the scaffolding), but for the same views or even better, I would rather do the Staten Island ferry. This bridge is highly romanticised in the movies, however in real life its quite a dampener. Your time is better spent avoiding it, and instead exploring the small bylanes of historical downtown or taking a Staten Island ferry!

It will be up for sale again next year after completing all the required renovations. Possibly offered for the highest bidder with an average IQ
and a big smile.

Everyone must walk over the bridge once in their lifetime. If you live here, do not take it for granted. If visiting, it's a unique experience to new york that takes a minimum of 30 minutes, or can take 3-4 hours, spending on your time allowance. The breathtaking views re only topped off by the amazing history that is told as you walk the bridge. TAKE A CAMERA. It will be one of those moments of regret if you do not have a decent camera.
