“Walked the Bridge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

I finally got to walk both ways over the Brooklyn Bridge and it was worth the wait. The views of Manhattan were amazing and likewise for Brooklyn.

I was a little unsure if it was a good thing for me to do on my own as don't have a good head for heights but this was not a problem. There was so much to see that I didn't even think about being over water and with the traffice running below and the views to capture on my camera there was just so much going on I didn't have time to think about it. You just have to remember not to wander into the bicycle lane for fear of getting run over or them yelling at you.

Once in Brooklyn I had a look around and it was nice and I walked down Montague St to the boardwalk with the fantastic views of lower Manhattan and you could also see the Statue of Liberty and Elli Island and the Staten Island Ferry.

I had lunch in a lovely little cafe 'Armando's' and it was a huge omelette with saute potatoes, toast and a mug of tea all for $11 and worth every one of those dollars.

Walked back over at a more leisurely pace and took in more sights and the temperature at this point was 89f once back in Manhattan headed to a Starbucks for a cool frappacino before heading back to my hotel.

Next time I visit New York I want to do this again as it was fun and had so many fantastic views.

“Walked right before dinner time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2012

Walked the bridge to Brooklyn right before dinner time. The path is very narrow and it is very crowded on the Manhattan end. There is a bike lane and a walking lane going across. There is some construction on the Manhattan end of the bridge which disrupts the view a little bit and makes the path way feel even more narrow. A must do while in lower Manhattan.

“A real sense of New York”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2012

Walking along battery park and towards the east river side the bridge is there for all to see, and it just begs you to come closer. I really didn't set out to walk across but as I neared the bridge it just seemed a natural thing to to. I have driven across many times to visit Brooklyn and had thought how much fun it would be to bicycle across (Still want to do), but today is was all about the walk and "it was amazing". Allow yourself a couple of hours to really stop and enjoy the sights of the bridge itself and the fabulous views of the waterway towards the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan Bridge, Empire State Building, the Chrysler and both Brooklyn and NYC skyline. If you feel adventurist you can walk through the old neighborhoods in Brooklyn down to the Promenade or the waterfront, I did and all told I was over and back in three hours. This is really a great experience to have and "it"s free"!
