“Nice rooms, close to town”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

The Westmark is a nice hotel, just a few blocks from downtown. The rooms are nice, but some have rooftop views, so ask about the view when checking in. The restaurant breakfast buffet is quite varied, but be early, before the eggs get hard and the icing slides off the cinnamon buns. I would certainly go back.

Room Tip: Ask for the higher floors

We stayed here at the end of our visit to Alaska and stayed here. I took pictures of the rooms when we got in as they were so nice. Lobby was large and restaurant busy. We had breakfast here and we have to recommend their biscuits and gravy. Very very good. All was clean, locality was great, we couldn't have been more pleased. Only downside to this is that there was NO Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the lobby.

we stayed one night here during our HollandAmerican trip to Alaska; the hotel was very clean, rooms were a good size and the beds very comfortable. It was also a good location to sight see from and much to see around Fairbanks

You wouldn't think with this town being in the middle of the city that it would be quiet but it was. We have stayed here during the winter as we are residents. My husband and I enjoyed the hotel but I wouldn't bring the kids it is more of an adult hotel not very kid friendly. Which is fine as we were celebrating our anniversary. The fitness center is nice and the rooms were clean. The restaurant is also the bar and dinner was okay.

Went as part of a tour. It was an older property. The place was well maintained and the room and facility was arguably 4 star but the staff ruined it. Our luggage was sent to the wrong room. The gift shop cashier was never at the register so you always waited. We told the front desk we were very interested in seeing the northern lights. They assured us that this was the perfect time of year and we were going to have a clear night so they took our names to call us when they appeared. No call. We later found out that the lights were not seen from the hotel and a short drive would have taken us to a great viewing spot. Another member of the party got great shots. There was also a noise like a pump cycling about ever 5 minutes all night long. Not loud, just annoying.

We were booked here as part of our Alaskan land tour. The hotel has a good location, and the accommodations were average. The room was kind of small, but was clean and comfortable. It seemed like we were put in a wing that was older, or part of another hotel that was acquired and renovated. The lobby was big and had comfortable leather chairs and couches, which was good, because there was always a lot of people waiting around for transfer buses, tours, etc. The staff was polite, and the restaurants were okay. We had dinner one evening, and ate breakfast twice on their buffet. The price was average for Alaska, and the breakfast buffet had a good variety of items.

We found the Westmark in Fairbanks to be like new, clean, easily accessible. It had a nice gift shop and 2 restaurants. Quiet, restful for a large hotel.
From the hours of 10PM to 7AM a room key card was needed to operate the elevators, an added security measure. The hotel is located near other large hotels and is in a great location.
