Stayed here for 3 nights on a quest to see the Aurora. We unfortunately did not see the Aurora, but the trip was otherwise great, and the accomodations were fabulous. We stayed in the Log House, which sleeps 4 (1 queen bedroom and 1 bedroom with 2 twins). The house is comfy and warm, with soft carpets and comfortable beds. There are great views over the valley from the deck, although it would be awesome if there were a skylight inside so you could just look up to watch for aurora from inside. Kory was an excellent host, very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was good every day, although we were a little tired of the quiche based dishes every day for 3 days, but it was still good and had other items. The house had a hot tub which was phenomenal, except it was so hot it just made me wish it was located out in the snow. The best part of the trip though, was Cooper. The resident German Shepherd/Husky who comes and knocks on the door and requests cookies, which are provided in a glass jar in the house. Feeding Cooper the dog cookies which he comes around for and playing with him was one of the best parts of the trip. Now, if you are not dog people like us, you might not agree, but then, if you are not dog people, what is wrong with you? Overall, a beautiful place, comfortable accomodations, a great proprietor and an excellent experience (aside from our misfortune with the lights). We would return, and plan on it, since our main objective was not accomplished. Cooper seals the deal for returning to Taste of Alaska.

This isn't a 5 star place and I'd do a little to make Aurora viewing easier (some sort of marked path to the bottom of the field would be safer and more welcoming) but otherwise I'm giving this a thumbs up. It is set on a hill overlooking Alaska (not buildings) which was stunning in the fall colors of early Sept. Korey greets and cares for everyone so nicely. We wanted to go boating the next day so he moved breakfast up by a half hour to accommodate and it was a great breakfast. Our rooms had a lot more furniture than we needed but delightfully loaded with items referencing day-to-day life in mid-century or earlier Alaska. Our room had a sewing theme - who would have thought this could be so intriguing but it was. We were warm, the lodge was cozy and the hospitality terrific.

Comfortable rooms, great scenery, great hosts, good breakfast.

Mosquitos? Many. Hungry? You bet. Imagine a cloud of hungry mosquitos that follow you. Fortunately I had the personal OFF repellant fan which I stuck on the chair outside of the door and that worked.

I have been staying here for years and I always enjoy coming back. Just the right distance from town and comfortable, warm rooms - they know a thing or two about insulation. They take a lot of pride in their establishment and it shows. From the Alaskan decor, to the wonderful breakfast. Some of the best northern lights I have ever seen have been right out the door of my room. The Eberhardts have been in Alaska for a long time and will be happy to share recommendations and stories with you. If you are up for dog mushing, just walk down the hill in front of the lodge and you are at Paws 4 Adventure, another excellent establishment.

Room Tip: The 6 rooms at the bottom of the lodge have great access to aurora viewing

My husband and I have stayed at A Taste of Alaska on two separate occasions, in 2006 and again in 2009. I can't imagine going to Fairbanks and staying anywhere else. The lodge and the log house are charming, the views are outstanding, the grounds are peaceful, and the breakfasts are to die for. The Eberhardts are wonderful people who take you into their hearts immediately. We wish we could go back regularly.

My wife and I just returned from 4 days at the Taste of Alaska Lodge in Fairbanks Alaska. The rooms were well equipped, comfortable, clean and warm. Each room had a magnificent view across the snow covered meadow and to the mountains in the distance with an occasional glimpse of Denali. The dining hall was spacious and well appointed. This bed and breakfast establishment offered a full breakfast with cereals, fruit, bagels-toast, eggs, omelets, bacon, sausage, quiches.. you name it. Cory, the proprietor, is a man of many talents not just his culinary skills but he was very helpful with suggestions of places to go and see and fun things to do and how to interpret the Northern Lights that were visible in the evening. We would definitely return to the Taste of Alaska in the future...

Room Tip: Not a bad room in the place.

We just returned from spending 3 wonderful nights at A Taste of Alaska Lodge. The property is close enough Fairbanks, but yet far enough to feel remote. The property is peaceful and the scenery beautiful. We were very fortunate to see the Northern Lights twice during our stay. The rooms have both an interior and exterior entrance. You just have to step outside and look up over the lodge to see the magnificant Aurora! Both nights the Northern Lights waited until 2-3 am. Sleep during the day and stay up at night to watch the Aurora. The breakfast was very good each morning. Hot coffee and hot water for tea or hot chocolate is always available. You definitely feel like you are visiting family when you stay here. Kory is very personable and makes you feel right at home. This trip was a 50th birthday celebration that did not disappoint!

Room Tip: All rooms were on the lower level of the lodge. Two large suites are located on the main floor of th...
