“Nice Clean, Big Rooms”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

Went to the Lodge as part of our Princess Sea/Land Cruise. It was our last stop with the vacation, and the best of the places we stayed as part of the trip. The rooms were clean, and spacious. There is really nothing else in the area. they do have a nice little trail that wraps around a little lake, wildlife refuge. And there is a GREAT Antique Car Museum, that is a Must to see. I'm not a car guy, but these were the most beautiful, rare cars I've every seen. Can't imagine they are in a parking lot/museum in Alaska.
We went to an Italian restaurant across the street from the hotel, was pretty good.
They also had a shuttle to Fairbanks town, but really not much there.

Very spacious, well appointed rooms. Location is great with nice trail in the back of the resort. However the mosquitoes were in full force during our stay and we had to return not able to complete the trail. The hotel is located in a area that looks a bit run-down with not many restaurant choices nearby.

Best bed and pillows I have had in two weeks! Rooms are huge with lots of room. Free wifi. Would recommend Bear Lodge to others.

Service in the bar, lounge was very slow. The male Bartender had a bit of an attitude, as though we were disturbing him by coming in.

This was our first time staying here. We usually stay at the sister lodging the Wedgewood, but wanted to give this one a try as we were very satisfied with our Wedgewood stays. HOWEVER, we are very dissatisfied with our stay here. When we came back to our room after a long day, we were greeted with a room that looked thrown together. Bedding not changed. Blankets pulled up and partially tucked. Bedspreads either on floor or tossed on end of bed. Only one bath towel left and set on counter behind toilet. We are checking out of here 2 days early. Will not stay another night nor recommend this place. I took pics but cannot attach here. mor

Loved it! We stayed here through our Princess cruise- land portion tour. We were here only for 2nights. The location is fine- about 15mins away from the airport. They provide free transportation to a grocery store, Fred Meyers, downtown and couple other places.
As soon as you enter the lodge, there is a gift shop/cafe on your right and lounge on your left. There is a nice giant brown bear statue in between check in and the restaurant. The restaurant is good. The prices are at higher end. We had cold breakfast Buffett for $10/pp. The hot breakfast is for $15/pp. If you don't want to spend that much money, the cafe has frozen Jimmy Dean's breakfast which they hear it up ($3.75). They sell mini cereal boxes for about $3 and also milk, juices, sodas. $1 for hot water. The coffee is for $2, not bad but if you are traveling as a family then you may want to bring those instant coffees, creamers, sugar from home or grocery store nearby. We had dinner at the restaurant - salmon ($22). Their Alaskan Amber- draft beer is excellent!
The rooms have modern style. I am posting a lot of pics of the lodge and the room. There is a coffee maker and refrigerator - no microwave. The beds are comfy. The showers have low flow water.
There is an antique cars museum 10-15mins walking distance from the lodge ($5/pp fee). We loved it!!!
In Fairbanks, don't miss the Riverboat, Salmon bake, Pioneer Park (free), Gold Dredge 8 (gold panning). The Riverboat, Salmon bake and Gold dredge was organized by Princess cruise so the motor coaches (bus) took us from door to door for each excursion. You can get a cab to go to Pioneer Park, around $10-15 each way.
Thank You Bear Lodge for making out stay comfortable.

This was part of our Princess cruise package of 12 days-I am glad we went with the land portion first. The rooms were clean and comfortable there is an onsight restaurant-which turned out to be pretty good. MY wife and I usually dine offsite when we can just to cover more ground.

At the end of our cruise to Alaska we took the train from Anchorage and stopped at Mt. Mckinley and Denali National Park, and finally the Bear Lodge located in Alaska. All those hotels were part of our package with princess cruises. The Bear lodge was not the nicest of those hotels but the size of the room was incredible, comfortable and clean. The restaurant was very nice as well.
