“And my wife thought it got cold in California...”

This is a great free thing you can do when visiting the Riverboat Discovery. It's a short line, but you get to walk in to a freezer that shows you what it's like in Alaska in the winter. They take a picture for you and you can buy one if you like.

“40 below is really cold!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

I liked knowing how it feels for the people of Fairbanks to live in this temperature, but the camera didn't work when they tried to take our picture and after 3 attempts, 40 below was really cold!

“So "cool"”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We loved getting to experience, even just for 30 seconds, what this extreme temperature feels like. We bought the photo, so it was well worth the $6. But if you don't buy the photo, it's free.

“Different kind of experience”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

Being from Houston, we just had to try this attraction located in the building where you wait to take the Riverboat Discovery Tour. One is not dressed for this in the summer and after 30 seconds you're ready to leave. It was a fun experience plus for a reasonable charge you received a picture to prove that you did it. It was 94 degrees outside so that was quite a difference!
