Beautiful dog sled ride thru the Boreal Forest outside Fairbanks, Alaska. We enjoyed the 7 mile Yukon Quest trail's gorgeous scenery. The dogs were friendly and fun to pet. An adventure for all ages. The owner and staff make sure you're dressed warm enough supplying winter gear if needed (no charge). I highly recommend this activity and dog sledding company. Don't miss this adventure.
The Lead Dog Tour, which is the tour that takes you on the gorgeous 7 mile loop of trails you enjoyed, is definitely a "must-do" in Fairbanks. Where else in the world can you feel like you are in Narnia like woods while happy huskies joyously run in front of you?

Thank you Jameson For a wonderful experience! He was great in educating us about the dogs, sleds, and places to eat. Everyone else there was very friendly, prepared, and the dogs are very gentle.
The knowledge that the staff at Just Short of Magic is not limited to dog mushing! We love to give all of our guests recommendations on several activities here in Fairbanks ranging from restaurants to ice fishing. Our number one goal is to ensure that our guests have the best overall vacation, not just an amazing Sled Dog Tour!

Everyone at this establishment was amazing! Everything from check-in to the actual ride was smooth and a great experience. The sled driver was very knowledgeable and informed us greatly about the history and training regime of dog sledding. The dogs were fantastic as well. The trip was well worth the money and we would do it again.
The rides here at Just Short of Magic is smooth by design. Every night, after all the tours have finished for the day, we groom our trails to ensure the maximum amount of comfort for our guests, but don't take my word for it. Take any of our tours and experience the smoothest ride around while watching a team of happy huskies run in front of your sled!

My fiancé, Cecilia, and I REALLY enjoyed our dog sledding trip with Just Short of Magic. The employees there were super friendly & accommodating and the owner of the company, Eleanor, personally took us out with a team of her many wonderful doggies on an hour-long ride through the woods. They provided us with any cold-weather gear we were lacking but we came prepared and only needed scarves & a pair of snow pants. Eleanor was very kind & knowledgeable as she described her passion for dog mushing and explained what brought her to Alaska many years ago to do this. You can tell the she (and the dogs) love what they do. We hope to return again someday. :)
We hope that you return again as well! Eleanor loves repeat guests. It is always fun, for everyone at Just Short of Magic, to interact with people who have been here once before. Our return guests, not only get to re-visit all of their favorite dogs, but get to learn even more about the sport of dog mushing. The second time is always better than the first!

This could be addicting. My wife and I went for a ride yesterday afternoon and it was magical. If I lived up here a would be buying a sled and assembling a team for recreation. A must try on your visit to the Fairbanks area. Eleanor genuinely loves her dogs and considers them family. Don’t pass this opportunity.
It is not uncommon for us to hear that exact quote from folks the moment their tour is over. However you may be our first to follow your dream and join us next year as full time musher! There is nothing that is overlooked in regards to our beautiful family of dogs. If you need any additional inspiration to become a musher comes join us for our authentic Mushing School tour.
Thanks,
Shane
My son and I enjoyed the experience of the dog sledding and staff was very friendly and helpful. Liked the fact that they make sure you will be warm enough on the ride. The dogs are all very friendly and well cared for. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
A wise man once said "There is not such thing as bad weather, only unprepared people." We hold this quote close to our chest at JSoM. Before heading out on your authentic Alaskan excursion we check all guest top to bottom to ensure they are properly outfitted to enjoy their tour, regardless of the weather outside. If guest come unprepared we have all of the proper gear (snow pants, jackets, gloves, hats, etc) to make sure they experience the upmost comfort during their time with us.
Thanks,
Shane
