Eleanor and her team at Just Short of Magic were amazing. It was everything I hoped it would be. We all had the most enjoyable experience. I definitely recommend you use Just Short of Magic for your dog sledding fun in Fairbanks.
Just Short of Magic is dedicated to offering a tour experience that results in magical memories that last a life time for all of our guests. I am so happy that we achieved that goal with you and your friends!

Fun experience with some really sweet dogs. We went in -15 degree weather, but still had fun. They provide warm boots, gloves, coats, etc that more than withstood the cold Alaskan weather. They should really advertise this on their website!
A warm ride is a fun ride and since most of our guests have never experienced the extremes of an Alaskan winter, we provide a free assessment of winter gear! Then, if a guest needs any item of clothing to be warmer, we will lend it to them for free for the duration of their tour.

A must if you are in or around Fairbanks and love dogs, the outdoors and experiencing something truly remarkable. The trails are well groomed and so, so, so beautiful. Eleanor is an amazing person - be sure to try the Mushing School and enjoy ! I loved every minute of it.
The trails that we use for our tours at Just Short of Magic are naturally gorgeous, but Eleanor, the owner of the business, grooms them every night to ensure that all of our guests the smoothest ride possible!

It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The girls were very informative, helped us prepare with the right clothing and gear because of the extreme cold temperatures, and the ride itself was beautiful. We got to interact with the dogs. I would recommend this over and above any other dogsled ride in the Fairbanks area.
We pride ourselves on being the best sled dog tour around! Not only do you get to experience the sport of dog mushing with 47 of the happiest huskies in town, you will do so with a business that values the experience of all of our guests. That is why we have recently built a brand new Guest Center! This Guest Center is designed to make our guests feel welcome and like they are a part of our family as soon as they arrive.

Our initial goal of visiting Fairbanks was to catch the aurora - even though we didn't get to do so due to the weather condition of the week we were there. Just short of magic has made our trip just as special, if not more. The stay at the yurt was definitely a memorable experience and we would do it all over again. It's quaint, peaceful and love the breakfast Eleanor prepare for us every morning and the howling of the sweet dogs every night. We also did the sled ride which was on a fairly cold day and they have all the equips to keep you extra warm and due to the weather we did half an hour but they were so professional and refunded us immediately of the overpayment since we didn't get to sled for the whole hour. The dogs were all sweethearts and are definitely a part of the family as they were so well cared for and loved by Eleanor and her staff. The whole experience was exceptional, from our first-night arrival (with Eleanor waiting up for us) to our last day, they absolutely accommodated us with all our needs and more. They were detailed in our care and everyone made sure we were comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better place and experience in our Alaska experience and can't wait to be back. Thank you so much, Eleanor, Elouise and Jenna!!!
I am so sorry that you didn't get to see the Aurora while you were staying with us. Our location is a wonderful place to catch the Aurora, but the weather has to cooperate! Though, it seems that you still were able to enjoy yourselves. The dogs, who were your neighbors for the entirety of you Yurt stay, are a part of our family here at Just Short of Magic. These amazing sled dogs are able to dig deep down into your heart and stay there forever. All of our Yurt guest remember their canine neighbors fondly.
