It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The girls were very informative, helped us prepare with the right clothing and gear because of the extreme cold temperatures, and the ride itself was beautiful. We got to interact with the dogs. I would recommend this over and above any other dogsled ride in the Fairbanks area.

We pride ourselves on being the best sled dog tour around! Not only do you get to experience the sport of dog mushing with 47 of the happiest huskies in town, you will do so with a business that values the experience of all of our guests. That is why we have recently built a brand new Guest Center! This Guest Center is designed to make our guests feel welcome and like they are a part of our family as soon as they arrive.

Our initial goal of visiting Fairbanks was to catch the aurora - even though we didn't get to do so due to the weather condition of the week we were there. Just short of magic has made our trip just as special, if not more. The stay at the yurt was definitely a memorable experience and we would do it all over again. It's quaint, peaceful and love the breakfast Eleanor prepare for us every morning and the howling of the sweet dogs every night. We also did the sled ride which was on a fairly cold day and they have all the equips to keep you extra warm and due to the weather we did half an hour but they were so professional and refunded us immediately of the overpayment since we didn't get to sled for the whole hour. The dogs were all sweethearts and are definitely a part of the family as they were so well cared for and loved by Eleanor and her staff. The whole experience was exceptional, from our first-night arrival (with Eleanor waiting up for us) to our last day, they absolutely accommodated us with all our needs and more. They were detailed in our care and everyone made sure we were comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better place and experience in our Alaska experience and can't wait to be back. Thank you so much, Eleanor, Elouise and Jenna!!!

I am so sorry that you didn't get to see the Aurora while you were staying with us. Our location is a wonderful place to catch the Aurora, but the weather has to cooperate! Though, it seems that you still were able to enjoy yourselves. The dogs, who were your neighbors for the entirety of you Yurt stay, are a part of our family here at Just Short of Magic. These amazing sled dogs are able to dig deep down into your heart and stay there forever. All of our Yurt guest remember their canine neighbors fondly.

WoW - Where do I begin?
I wasn't sure if this was something I wanted to do considering how cold it was outside (-12) during the day. I realized there wasn't much to do in the Fairbanks area so I figured, why not?! I called in and Spoke to Mercy to find out the difference between the 1hr and the 2hr school. It was a significant price difference for myself since I was a single person, but totally worth every single penny! All the guides seemed fantastic! Everyone was returning with smiles on their faces and thanking the staff left and right.
I was fortunate enough to have Eleanor as my guide. It is clear that this is a passion of theirs and taking care of the dogs is the lifestyle they have chosen. They live and breath the dog sledding environment and it really comes across in the incredible service and experience you receive from the moment you walk inside.
I could go on and on about why you should choose Just Short of Magic compared to the other dog sledding locations, but just know that there is a reason they are rated #1.
You don't have to worry about it feeling busy, they space out the rides and have plenty of local guides and dogs to create a special moment for you and your friends or family.
JSOM team - Thank you for the experience and sharing the love for your special furry ones. Once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget! <3

P.s. To the visitors who are worried about the cold, just make sure you dress properly, they have lots of additional clothes and special boots that you will definitely want to wear, but still bring everything you have as additional layers never hurt!

Even though we are a highly rated business and deal with numerous guests every day, the staff at Just Short of Magic are dedicated to providing a fun, unique, and special experience for every single solitary person that comes through our doors. 60 minute sled ride topped off with as much dog petting as you can handle! I recommend this crew for a sled ride! Jenna was super helpful in organising our trip last minute, and our musher was full of knowledge and experience! Loved it!

I am so glad you had an amazing time! All of our dogs love the attention that our guests heap upon them. That is why the staff at Just Short of Magic will never ask any of our guests to leave after their tour. If you want to stay for 2 hours after your tour petting all of our loving Alaskan huskies, then you do just that!
