“Do not miss this on your Fairbanks trip!”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Our visit with Eleanor and her dogs was wonderful. She was so informative, spent over two hours discussing the dogs, answering our multiple questions and letting us interact with the dogs, who were so friendly! The yurt was awesome and it was a wonderful experience for only $35 each. The dogs are so healthy, happy and friendly. We appreciated how hard they work and love to work, and life in Alaska. Eleanor made our wedding anniversary so special, and we are forever grateful! We have lifelong wonderful memories of our trip to see Eleanor and her dogs and want to come back in the winter time. Thank you for letting us come and visit and feed the dogs, and we learned so much. All in all, it was a very special afternoon. We also learned about assembling and living in a yurt "off the grid." wonderful, wonderful, wonderful !

“Wonderful day with Eleanor and her Fantastic Dogs”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Our visit lasted over 2 hours. The day was fun, and Eleanor was very informative. The visit was well worth the expense. We learned about the feeding and caring for the dogs. We leaned the mechanics of mushing and were shown 1st hand how the sled operates and the dogs are hooked up and guided. But more important we got to interact with well trained and some of the most incredible dogs I have ever met. I recommend Just Short of Magic to anyone that loves animals. We live in Nashville, TN, but I hope that we can make it back and ride a sled with Eleanor when there is snow on the ground in Fairbanks.

“Friendly and Genuine”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Our tour lasted nearly two hours for only four of us. We learned about much more than just the dogs and sleds. Eleanor explained everything from hauling drinking water to breeding dogs to the insulation on her yurt. I would love to go in the winter, but the summer tour was definitely worth it. Unlike the other Fairbanks attraction, this one did not feel cliche and profit driven in the least.

“Real contact with Alaska”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

This was one of the most intensive experience we brought from Alaska in the middle of summer. If you like animals, old traditions and you know, that real mushing dogs work just in the winter, you will enjoy this. We spent here beautiful two hours and had opportunity to see all dogs, ask for anything we wanted to know a got all the information from Eleanor, the owner. She was very friendly and we just wish that everything is ok there now (there was heavy forest fire around Fairbanks, while we were there). Petr and Aneta, Czech Republic

“I'm from Fairbanks and this is the best family mushing I've ever done!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

BOOK A TRIP!!! We live in Fairbanks and wanted to just have fun dog mushing, didn't need any gimmicks. Eleanor is so hardworking and friendly. I would recommend her place to locals and tourists. SO FUN! The trail was exciting but not scary for the little ones. I can see how she is great with tourists too: it is a very Alaskan experience down to the scenery, sled, gear, yurt. I tend to be scared of barking loud dogs, but Eleanor manages and controls her dogs well.

We will be doing this every year.
