“Not the best experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2012

Previous reviews have mentioned the outlandish waiter, and his humour.
Within minutes of being seated, our party of 4 were insulted by the "clever show-off" who seemed to think that the world revolved around him.
The service was very poor, the food un-memorable, barely edible vegetables which had been in water all day it seemed, and fish that appeared to be bought in frozen, and tasteless. I have to admit that in all our travels around USA, this is the first time I couldn't leave a tip on the bill. The girl who took the payment was very apologetic that we were sorely disappointed, but did little more than smile and hope we would go away.
My warning is to stay away from Soapy Smith, he had a reputation in Juneau for his cheating ways during his lifetime, it seems his spirit still lives on.

“Soapy's gets a lot of foot traffic because of the name, location and decor, but it isn't the best restaurant downtown Fa”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2012

Soapy's gets a lot of foot traffic because of the name, location and decor, but it isn't the best restaurant downtown Fairbanks.

I have never had a bad meal there, but never a particularly memorable one, either. They are particularly proud of their crab cakes, but after having them once, I will probably not order them again.

“Authentic Alaskan Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2012

Wonderful restaurant for both locals and tourists. Prices are reasonable and always friendly service. The memorabilia on the walls is reason enough to visit. We especially like taking our grandaughter with us as there is a basket of toys for her to play with while we wait to eat.

“Fun once - that's probably enough”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2011

The waiter (outlandish stand up comedian with a smart response to everything) was worth the visit. decor is interesting but a little on the run-down side. Food was not very good. Prices were high for what we got but you could say that about most lunch spots we found in Alaska.

“Time for an update.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2011

Service was over the top as it was one of the owners, and she could not have been more gracious, it was better than being at my favorite pub.
The bowl of chowder had enough salt to leave an anchovy speechless. And as the beef patty was small the price was high even by Alaska gottcha pricing. Salads are the best value here by far. Dark Greens were fresh and plentiful, dressings could be better. No deserts were tried.
Plans to open the rooftop in the future.
