Great university. Especially in the sciences. Museum wonderful. Just being on campus is interesting, especially in winter when all students are well-dressed and going about life in the arctic.

Lots of things to see. Very nice and clean campus. Museum of the North was located there, very good. Reindeer pens let you see them up close.

Living in Fairbanks, I appreciate the presence of UAF in the community. They offer an intellectual option to a more subsistence lifestyle. One of my favorite stops is the Geophysical Institute where in the Globe room there is a globe about 10 feet in diameter. There is also a USGS map office ( only 2 in the country) where you can purchase great maps of Alaska and the Circumpolar North.
I also visit the Botanical Gardens several times each summer, for inspiration in gardening myself, and a quiet spot to to enjoy a quiet retreat from the busy summer life. There is a problem with funding for the garden, but I understand it will be cared for this summer.
I eagerly anticipate a special visit, In July my friends and I have a little picnic in the peony patch, drunk on the array of giant blossoms in pinks and roses and white and a sweet-sweet perfume in the air.

Small enough to really do the entire museum. Great overview of Alaska, excellent staff. Eclectic mix of artifacts.
