“Nice, but not spectacular”

Comfortable bed, nice location next to river. Like most lodges, they have everything you need on grounds. restaurants were alright, prices higher than neighboring restaurants and overall comfort and quality is average. parts of a princess cruise lines cruise tour. My advice, do land portion on your own and cruise with Princess.

Room Tip: Use tape to tape curtains shut,.

The rooms were clean and the staff was nice & helpful. We only stayed on night and caught the train in the morning. Breakfast was good and we were able to catch a bus from the hotel to the train station in the morning. We did have a lengthy cab ride to “down town” Fairbanks in search of some night life.

Yes I am one of the cruiseship people, we stayed in this Princess Lodge as well as Mt Mckinley and Denali. This was far and above the best property. I see some bad reviews but we had an excellent room, clean and up to date furnishings. This hotel has nice facilities also. This property is open year round as it is interesting listening to how the Japanese come in the winter in mass in order to experience the Northern Lights. Again I thought was an excellent property.

Checked in last night and the room was about 110 degrees with the heat running. The response was the a/c is now off for the season suggest cracking your window....had the window completely open with a fan running that maintenance brought up and it was still hot.

Bedding was not good and the shower is awful. Not a very good branding experience for the Princess brand.

Stayed at the Princess Riverside Lodge for the last night in Fairbanks after spending the week in another budget motel. The premise was to "treat" ourselves for the final night.
First the good - The food is not bad. It is Fairbanks, so Denny's is one of the best restaurants. It is expensive, but tasty.
Now the BAD - The hotel is well worn. If it were a cruise ship, it would be time for a refit. The floors are actually worn. I was in room 105. My elderly aunt and mother were in room 103. Room 105 is a King size room. The chair in the room was extremely worn. The grout in the shower had mildew and the tub was stained from use. The TV was very small. It think 15 inches. I wish that was it, but... We called to reserve the van for a 7 AM trip to the airport.
When I got to the front desk the person there looked at me with no response after I asked if the van was ready. He asked, "Are you going to the airport?" Mind you I had a cart full of 8 bags loaded behind me. Oh no! Another issue! No one to help with your bags or even open the doors to the outside! Another person showed up, who turned out to be the front desk person. The original person turned out to be a security guard. Neither of them seemed to be able to tell me about the van. I asked who was the van driver? Again, no response from either. Again, I asked and they replied they were not the driver. I asked where the driver was. No response. IT GETS WORSE!!!
Finally, a driver emerges. My elderly aunt with a walker goes to the van and gets in. I am, again, not helped at the door by either the security person or front desk person. I get to the van to find out my aunt has fallen when getting in the van. The van driver didn't attempt to help her into the van! Nor did the van driver help me with the bags until I asked. It turns out my aunt has cuts and bruises up and down her shins! The van driver says it is her first day driving and says she has had no training on how to help elderly into the van. I wish she had not spoke!
Overall the Princess Riverside Lodge is old and staffed by morons!

We stayed 2 nights at Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge. Comfortable room with a view of the river.Very quiet.

We had lovely evening meals on the deck overlooking the river. The temperature was in the high 80s. Very good food. The coffee shop opens early with a good selection of muffins and free refills of coffee/tea. None of the hotels we stayed in on this land tour had coffee/tea makers in the rooms, which is really strange by European or any standards.

We took an excellent trip on a Sternwheeler Riverboat Cruise which we really enjoyed.

We were happy just to relax for the rest of the time as we had had a tiring journey thanks to Alaskan Airways.

It was part of our land/cruise with Princess. The hotel was ok and I have no complaints. It is used primarily by cruise people. The tour desk was wonderful as well as the front desk giving suggestions of things to do in the area and helping in any way they could. The restaurants were nice and the food was good. The river views with the river walks are nice.
