THE MIDNIGHT DOG MUSHING DINNER WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP!!! Sam our driver, Nita and Josh our mushers and now friends and 23 dogs were fantastic!!! The visit and dog mushing were so much fun but the highlight was when Mike, Josh, Nita, the 16 dogs and I dropped down in the little valley and we saw the northern lights! Breathless!!

Nita and Josh are incredible hosts, we had an amazing sled dog trip with them. We ended up doing the night time aurora tour. Josh picked us up from our B&B around 9pm and took us out into the wilderness to the cabin he built with Nita. There we were greeted with a warm fire, a glass of wine, some delicious food and adorable dogs! The dinner Josh and Nita prepared was delicious and hearty, and exactly what we needed before going out into the freezing cold night with the dogs.

It was amazing to see how excited the dogs got to work. While Josh and Nita were harnessing them them up, all of the dogs were howling and jumping on their houses, seeming to say "pick me! pick me!" And while we were out on the trail and stopped so they could rest, the dogs all just wanted to keep going.

Unfortunately for us, the aurora only came on for about 5 minutes and it was very faint. Their cabin is in a fantastic location with virtually no light pollution, but it just wasn't that active that night. Josh and Nita also have loads of cold weather equipment. We showed up with all of our gear thinking we would be set, but in addition to what we had on we put on snow coveralls, additional parkas, face masks and over-mittens - and we needed all of it! They also provide boots if they think yours will not due.

Josh and Nita were fantastic hosts. It was such a great experience and one we will never forget. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

We joined their three hour dog mushing tour. Nita and Josh were really nice, kind, caring and knowledgeable, they love their dogs from hearts!

Their dogs are all real Huskies which was really important, as my parents finally decided to join another company in very last minute, so we did not have time to call Nita, turned out that their dogs were not Huskies, and there were so many people doing the dog sledding in the same places, so dogs ran quite slow, not trained well and fought with each other, so my parents were freaking out. Therefore, we could compare two companies.

Our location was very good and safe, private path so no chance to meet other dogs.

Nita and Josh took the same sleds with us (2 seperate teams) for the first round and we decided to run our little teams for the second round. It was really fun and we were so happy that we chose Nita and Josh!

Btw, thanks for taking us to buy meats and recommending the fur company where we bought lots good stuff with the reasonable prices!

I spent a wonderful night viewing the Aurora from Nita & Josh's cabin. Even though Fairbanks was cloudy, the skies up on Murphy's Dome were clear and we had a spectacular light show. We took a bracing dogsled ride through the woods before our midnight dinner of creamy salmon pasta. The cabin was warm and welcoming for our small party. Our hosts loaned out gear to us so we stayed warm whether we were outside shooting photos of the lights or indoors watching from the wall of windows. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening -- playing with the dogs, making new friends over dinner, and of course -- the lights! I would recommend it highly -- it was the best part of my trip.

Before you sign up for an Aurora Viewing tour, ask the company how many people will be sharing this experience with you. The most normal answer is 50 -60 people (think bus load) you have never met before wait in the same room for something to happen.

However at Sirius Sled Dogs you will spend the time with maybe 6 guests in a comfortable cabin where everyone can have a front row seat to the aurora - either inside or out. This experience was the best aurora viewing opportunity we have found in Fairbanks.

You can go for dinner and viewing or optionally add a sled dog ride. Either way the pups are always available for hugs and pets and normally give a howlfest at some point.

We had a delightful time and a fabulous show of the northern lights seen very well from either outside or inside with the large windows.
