So I chose this hotel based on a workout room, free breakfast, and a shuttle to the airport. Here is how it went. I arrived at Fairbanks about 12:05 pm. After three calls, the shuttle arrived at the airport to retrieve me at 1:05pm. Slow............. Then I get to the hotel. The room is fine, but someone had left the air conditioner running! So I changed and went to the workout room. It was dirty, the machine worked, but the TV attached to the machine did not. So I was able to watch TV in a mirror. Try that sometime. Finally, I called the front desk that evening to schedule the shuttle to the airport to meet my 8 am flight. Well, the shuttle only goes at 6 am or 7:15 am, no deviations. So I took the 6 am shuttle and missed the breakfast which starts at 6:30 am. Find another hotel, please.

Thank you for providing feedback on your stay at the SpringHill Suites Fairbanks. I’ve checked with the general manager on our current operating procedures and it sounds like your experiences don’t match them, so we will use these examples as part of our training program. Typically guests will get a shuttle update and be presented with a cab-ride option, heating units return to the automated 65-70 degrees after checkout, the exercise room is monitored hourly, headphones activate the TVs and the following breakfast items are placed on the line at 4am: breads, muffins, juice, cereal, fruit, yogurt and fresh coffee. If your travels bring you to Fairbanks in the future, we hope that you will give this property another try.

If you want to stay in downtown Fairbanks, especially in the winter without having to drive on snowy / icy roads, this is a good choice. Not fancy, but competent and comfortable. Just be aware, no matter how late you're out aurora-viewing, breakfast closes at 9:30 SHARP. And between 8:30 and 9:30, it's MOBBED.

Room Tip: Higher floors and back (south) side are quieter; front (north) side is darker.

We were surprised when we walked into the rooms. They were beautiful. We had 2 adjoining rooms and feel like we had a ton's of room for the 5 of us. The winter rates were wonderful.
The breakfast was a bit disappointing. We went about 15 min before it was over. And they were cleaning it up around us and many other people. I've not seen that before. Most hotels will be polite and wait until the people have their food. This staff was really trying to get everyone out of there fast! Other than that we loved the hotel.

Room Tip: Go early to breakfast or you won't get any!!!

Hello and thank you for providing feedback on your recent stay at the SpringHill Suites Fairbanks. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed all the space and décor in your guest rooms.

We strive to provide the best possible breakfast service, and when it fails to meet a guest’s expectations we do like to hear about it. Our general manager is now monitoring the flow of the breakfast area to ensure that all guests are offered all buffet items right up to the end of the designated breakfast time.

Enjoy your winter travels.

This place is very centrally located in the heart of downtown Fairbanks a few blocks from the visitor center and across the street from the river. Hotel is popular with groups which can create a bit of a "throng" especially at breakfast. There is a reasonably good if somewhat pricey restaurant off the lobby. The rooms off the back are subject to a fair amount of street noise especially at bar closing.
Beds are reasonably comfortable. Internet is free and varies widely in spreed.

We stayed here in March during the Ice Sculpture Championships. Comfortable, spacious rooms with kitchen and sitting area. Free hot breakfast, exercise room and pool and spa. The staff shuttled us to the Ice Park, the train station, the airport, and the museum of the North. They even shuttled us to the Safeway. We walked to the visitor center, and to many good restaurants. A downside: only two small drawers. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Good starting point for tours to see the aurora or dog sledding. Overlooks the Chena River, which was frozen and covered with snow. Beautiful.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the river.
