We took the 1 hour tour in mid March. The tour covers 8 miles on the 200 acre property of A Taste of Alaska Lodge. My husband and I were seated in the sled with the guide behind us.
We learned a lot about the dogs during our tour and our guide, Adele, was excellent. Paws for Adventure also has warm clothing available at no charge if you need it. We were able to meet the dogs after our tour to thank them for a great ride! We were also offered hot chocolate and cookies when we finished our tour! Thanks Paws for Adventure for a GREAT experience!

We had a GREAT time, the dogs were friendly, the ride was beautiful and our guide John was very nice and he answered all of our question(and we had a lot of them). We cannot stop talking about what a great time we had. You cannot spend a more perfect afternoon than dog mushing with Paws for Adventure!

I took a friend (who was visiting from the lower 48) to PAWS for an Alaskan adventure - and neither of us were disappointed! What a wonderful experience~
A beautiful day, the power of the dogs, the thrill of the trail... we could almost imagine we were on the trail to Nome!

We made the mistake of arriving about 20 minutes late... I would hope that everyone else would be more timely than we were! No one complained but we could see, at the end, that we had pinched them for time. Leslie was still gracious and balanced all of us with style, but I felt bad that we had caused this situation.

PAWS offers an huge varity of adventures, from an "Intro to mushing" school for several hours - to multiple day trecks! They are not inexpensive, but they are well worth every penny.

Bathroom facilities (as in most rural areas of Alaska) consist of porta-potties...

I give them "Two Paws Up" (because four paws up isn't always a good thing!)

My husband and I went to one of Leslie's dog sled school days, and it was so much fun. Leslie was warm, kind and a wealth of knowledge and there was simply nothing like the feeling of skimming over the snowy trails driving your own dog sled team. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a trip to Paws for Adventure, whether for the dog sled school or simply to ride along on one of the sleds. We're looking forward to doing an overnight, thanks again Leslie!

Paws for Adventure offers an excellent "hands on" introduction to dogsledding. I have driven dog teams in the lower 48 states, but Leslie and her crew of guides at Paws have a great teaching progression for driving dog teams. First riding, then driving with an instructor and finally taking your own team out through the Alaskan wilderness! In addition to the mushing experience, she has a warm comfortable yurt on site as well as warm clothes so you will be comfortable on the trails at any temperature. Her kennel of dogs are also great, all friendly and each with a unique personality. Great winter day in interior Alaska!
