What a great time! Jane and Doug were great hosts and we learned so much about reindeer with a very hands on experience. The reindeer were great, walking with them in the woods was out of this world, and I truly had a great experience even as a LOCAL! I loved seeing the reindeer free to do as they please at the ranch, very ethically treated and happy animals with plenty of room to play and have fun around the house - Jasper even ended up on the deck helping himself to some feed stored there.

Anyone going to Fairbanks,Alaska has to do this!! One of our highlights was Walking with the Reindeers.(go to www.runningreindeer.com or call 907-455-4998 to reserve your place). They live on 5 acres and have these beautiful reindeers(5 of them) that they walk with every day. It is a blast. You walk with the reindeers, not the other way around. It is sooooo cool and alot of fun too. Jane is very knowledgeable about her reindeers too. Its a easy walk(I have terrible back problems and I did fine). After the reindeers are done walking, Jane and her husband serve lemonade and the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had. She promises to put the recipe on facebook. This is really an experience of a lifetime because there are no fences or anything between you and the reindeers. Its very safe(Jane is right there the entire time) because the reindeers are so sweet and well behaved. Like I said earlier, you walk with them, not them walking with you. They stop and sniff and drink water from their little pond and just hang around. Jane and Doug, her husband, are wonderful hosts and it truly was the highlight of our trip. I know it would be the same for you too. Call and reserve your space. Totally worth it. Get to Fairbanks a day early like we did and go see the Reindeers!!

This may be the only place in the united states that you can walk around with, and PET, reindeer!!! Feeling these animals was indescribable- it felt like I was touching a part of the wilderness!!! Jane was a fountain of knowledge- it was so informational to hear her talk about the reindeer! She was super accommodating for my very young and
Boisterous children- bringing them cookies and reading them a children's book! I would rate this as must-do for Fairbanks (and this is coming from
Someone who lives in Fairbanks- we are
Not tourists!!!') hope you enjoy:-)

Our host Jane was very personable and interesting We learned a lot about reindeer and their social herd relationships, as well as how for humans to communicate with them. It was amusing learning how the five reindeer in her herd relate to each other, and how they vie for dominance. Her garden was also very interesting, not to mention delicious. Very glad we did this tour.
