Downtown Fairbanks looks pretty seedy to us but is reportedly a safe town. We walked to and fro and encountered very few people on a Sunday afternoon and evening.'
Two of us enjoyed a meal at Bahn Thai, selected not only on the strength of Trip Advisor Reviews, but also those of our B&B hostess, walking distance away. Service was fast and the staff obviously hard working. Everything arrived piping hot. First we ordered the (cold) spring rolls (with a side dish, extra, of peanut sauce) and hot halibut rolls (fried), The portions were very large for each, as appetizers: 4 spring rolls and 8 halibut rolls (well, four, cut in half). We split an entree of duck with vegetables, with a side dish of rice. We ordered medium spicy. Again, the portion was ample and hot, but very mild - in fact, although we could detect flavorings, they were not hot-spicy. THe appetizers were about $10 each and the entree was about $15. We took plenty home. I think four people could share two appetizers and two entrees and be well satisfied by the quantity. No liquor license.
