“Fantastic piece of history”

I enjoyed a wonderful tour of martha washington's home (george washington's mother). The tour guide was in period dress and obviously has a passion for US History. It was a special treat that the ground gardener was onsite, available to give a quick tour of the the grounds and discuss the maintenance. I especially liked seeing Martha Washington's will. It is an interesting document to read.

“A Must-See in Fredericksburg”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

Stopping to see Mary Washington's home is well worth the modest, five dollar fee and the hour or so it will take to enjoy the entire site. The guided tour is well-crafted to provide you an interesting and engaging mix of information about Mary herself, her relationship with George Washington, and the house and its artifacts. The guides know their topics in detail and will give you honest, research-based answers to your questions (including stories/rumors about Mary and George's mother/son relationship and Mary's, uh, "forceful" personality). The beautiful garden and grounds also are worth a stroll (and make a nice backdrop for photos). Well worth your time!
