For UMW's Destination Days, my wife was excited to book us at this new Hyatt, placing us very close to the campus. We decided that we would extend our stay to visit Fredericksburg for a few days. You literally walk across Route 1 and you're on the campus - very nice! Our 1st worry was that our room was so close to the elevator - surprisingly, we had zero noise from the elevators make it into our room. Noise inside the room, however, was a different story. The sliding glass door to the bathroom is a nice touch, aesthetically, but if you are using the bathroom, there is no privacy within the room, noise-wise. Your business in there is everybody else's business as well. We had issues getting into our room on day 2 - it seems the cards/lock had been reset - a quick 5-minute trip to the front desk, although a bit frustrating to have to do it, took care of the problem. WIFI - plus and minus here - it still took a phone call to the front desk to get the Wifi Password, but once we had it, it worked like a charm. Last negative - parking - there doesn't seem to be a designated lot. There is a lot out back, but it's relatively small, and further than anywhere else. Across the street, by the empty shops (for sale/lease) is also used, but once the shops are leased, that might be a problem. Lastly, out front, in the shopping center parking lot - spotting a side door to the hotel, this became our favorite place to park. Other good stuff - the 42" swiveling TV with Directv can be seen anywhere in the room, and made for relaxing evenings. The proximity to restaurants left us always with food options w/o driving anywhere - relaxing after a day of driving. Last, but certainly not least, the breakfast... The selection of food (the breakfast sandwiches were fantastic!!), the freshness of food, and the fact that, until breakfast is over (and not 1/2 hour earlier, like some places), they continue to bring out food. Did you sleep until 15 minutes before breakfast is over - no problem!! There will be fresh food, and smiling faces bringing it out!! Bad, yes, but plenty more good, so we'll be back!! Heading up for orientation in June, and that's where we'll be staying!!
