“Height of Comfort and Relaxation”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Sited on a commanding view above Fredericksburg, this is the perfect get-away for those with a discriminating appreciation for the finer things. We overnighted in Ellie's Suite, a well-appointed, spacious, yet warm refuge. The plush king bed had the most comfortable sheets we recalled ever sleeping in. Fragrant bath salts, artisan soaps, and a jetted tub as well as separate shower were among the luxuries that couples celebrating a special occasion will enjoy. We also ordered "You're the Thoughtful One" special add-on and savored an excellent Bogle Phantom blended red wine with a spectacularly arranged and scrumptious cheese, fruit, and nut plate that we slowly savored before heading out for dinner. Breakfast was also an event to remember--a flavorful vegetable quiche with turkey sausage patties, fresh fruit, and lemon poppyseed scones that were so very tender we could not enjoy just one!

The house is a treasure trove of tastefully arranged antiques and museum-quality family heirlooms originating from Germany, Alaska, and the upper midwest of the U.S., beautifully displayed alongside articles from Jenny's extensive international travels. Ask about any and all of them; there's a rich story behind everything in the house.

The large property lot is gorgeous at any time of day, but particularly dramatic in the late afternoon and early evening as the city lights come on. Strongly recommend arriving at the earliest check-in time to take in the grounds and the scenery in a stroll around the property and tour the house as you slowly, gently unwind. You'll want every minute you can spend here if you staying for only a single night. If you are spending more nights than that, Lavender Heights is perfectly situated to quickly and easily get to all the historic sights and restaurants/shopping in old town Fredericksburg.

Jenny does everything possible to make your stay a thoroughly relaxing one and her hospitality is absolutely first-class. Lavender Heights is among the best top-tier Bed and Breakfast experiences offered anywhere. An absolute must whether you stay one night or several!

Room Tip: Ellie's Suite is on the ground floor--all others involve climbing up stairs. If a couple like t...

We only stayed one night, but wish it could've been much longer. Lavender Heights is perfectly charming, with a sense of history yet modern updates. It was immaculately clean, with tasteful decor and a beautiful view. We were pampered in every way, from chocolate left beside the bed to lavender-scented body lotion & soap. The breakfast was sensational…exquisite seasonings & flavors, with an abundance of food. (We'd go back for the breakfast alone--it was incredible!) The location is wonderful -- just 5 min. away from downtown, on a hill in a quiet neighborhood, yet surrounded by trees so it feels like country. We were very comfortable & relaxed, and had the best B&B experience we've ever had. We heartily recommend staying at Lavender Heights!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in the Carriage House at Lavender Heights B&B. The Carriage house is a separate structure set back from the main house. I cannot emphasize how comfortable the bed and linens were! The best I have ever experienced! We also really loved having our own personal Keurig coffee maker in the kitchen, complete with a selection of coffees, teas, cocoa, and creamers. The spacious suite was really lovely and I wish we could have stayed longer. We didn't cook at all but the kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to make your own meals.

Jenny was a wonderful hostess. Her breakfasts were ample and delicious. Think individual frittatas and stuffed french toast with fruit salad, fancy English muffins, etc. She had some great stories to share about her past work experiences and we really enjoyed chatting after all the other guests had left!

Another nice thing about the B&B is that it is situated away from the main downtown in a quiet, lovely neighborhood. But it is still just a 5-10 minute drive from downtown and only 20 or so minutes from some of the nearby battlefields. I would highly recommend staying here.

Fantastic place that makes you feel at home yet pampered. The owner, Jenny, goes above and beyond expectations. The location is perfect-close to downtown for exploring and fun. The B&B itself is set on beautiful high grounds with a koi pond and awesome vistas. Our accommodations were extremely comfortable and impeccably decorated. The rich history of the B&B furnishings make it a very special place. The breakfast was delectable and plentiful. We had a diabetic in our group and Jenny took care of this extra request with aplomb. We highly recommend the Lavender Heights Bed and Breakfast.

The Lavender Heights Bed and Breakfast has the perfect match for guests: wonderful hostess and wonderful accommodations. My wife and I celebrated our 33 year anniversary at the Lavender Heights B&B and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything from the initial phone call to the restaurant recommendations to the house and room to the breakfast itself (the peach pancakes were delicious!) was 1st class!

Room Tip: We liked the Shanaberry Room with its size and amenities!

We are experienced B&B travelers and this one met all of our expectations. The owner, Jenny, is gracious, friendly, and eager to help with any requests. She is knowledgable about the area and can help guide you to local attractions and restaurants. The grounds are beautiful. The house is spotless, the linens are top grade and the breakfasts were delicious.
The only thing I would have changed was the size of our room. I believe that we had the smallest one, and I would suggest you get one of the larger ones if possible. That being said, it was otherwise very nicely furnished and had a lovely view.

This is our first time at this B&B , definitely not the last. As UMW parents, we are frequently in Fredericksburg, so we were pleased to find this inn so close to everything, but yet removed from the hustle & bustle of the downtown area. The first night we enjoyed wine by the koi pond before dinner. Our room was comfy, quiet, and nicely decorated. Jenny is a wonderful innkeeper and cook! Highly recommend this inn, and we have stayed in MANY over the years!

Room Tip: The most privacy would be had in a suite, especially the Carriage house.
