We had a great dinner and great service at The Happy Clam. The restaurant is run by a former fisherman and he uses local ingredients when possible, something that's very important to us. They were out of catfish the night we went, but our knowledgeable server quickly helped suggest some other items we might like. She also talked us into dessert and boy were we glad!

Dropped in hoping to find local fresh seafood and was not disappointed. Good offering of crab, clams, oysters, scallops and served simply breaded and deep fried to juicy delectability. We had the scallop platter, crab cake platter and a side of fried oysters. Nothing overdone, simple and fresh and juicily succulent. Excellent sides of coleslaw and hush puppies, and even managed to a piece of some of the best pies we've had in a long while. Tart lemon meringue, home made with a towering meringue and an apple pie that even if a tad sweet was so superbly spiced every bite disappeared. A friendly staff, enough choice of beers on tap for those who want it and prices that are a fair trade for food this good, we'd recommend it to anyone.

By the name it should be obvious what the fare is. In fact the lunch menu is short and to the point. It is all seafood. I had an oyster po boy and my wife had the crab cake sandwich. Both were good and the servings were plentiful. The hush puppies brought special praise from the wife. Small place, and the ambience is pretty rustic. Locally owned by a family that has been in the seafood business for years. Prices are very reasonable. We will go back.
