It's a lovely place to visit with a great view of Fredericksburg and the river. I proposed in the gardens, very picturesque even in the late fall. There were lots of families there with photographers taking Christmas card photos, so the word is out on how pretty the place is. The actual museum inside the house is sparse to say the least. For being a civil war hospital, it had surprisingly few medical artifacts from the time (none?). The coolest part of the house is some soldier graffiti on the original plaster that can be seen in a window sill, but there is nothing pointing this out, one of the volunteers told us. That seemed odd. But if you are looking for a spot for a picnic or a nice stroll, look no further.
