To really get an overview of the city, take the trolley ride! Hopefully you get John as your tour guide because he is the best. The tour is 75 minutes and quite entertaining in addition to being extremely informative. However, it really is for adults...the kids on the trolley were bored. We loved the overview of the city and then went back to the places that most intrigued us.

The historic district has many great examples of architecture throughout the time period that it has existed. The downtown is a bustling place with very few vacant storefronts. There are many interesting antique places, taverns, restaurants, and attractions all in a few block area.
It is hilly at some points and the sidewalks and streets are narrow in places, as old towns are.
Great way to spend a weekend.

If you want to absorb yourself in the Colonial and Civil War historical past of Fredricksburg, take the trolley ride. I advise to ride in the early morning in the summer as the ride we took over Memorial Day weekend in the late afternoon was sweltering. Great family fun!

Took the trolley around town. Very nice. We were able to see the town all in one trip and then could go to the places we liked.

Just walked around the Historic District and took in the sights. Eat in some local restaurants and enjoyed the crisp air.
