We normally go to Otani's vs other Japanese type restaurants because of the good food. Something is going on. Ginger sauce is watered down, soup is mostly broth, not like a year ago. I think we had a new chef. All food was way overcooked. Wife wanted steak medium, came out overly well done and chewy. My shrimp was overcooked and I had to tell him when to take scallops off so he wouldn't over cook them. Ruined the lobster of the couple next to us. DUDE, It's already cooked, just add butter and heat. They try to stuff you with an overly large amount of fried rice so you're full by the time the entree comes. Soup and salad together, not one at a time. Sushi appetizer came during dinner. Not us but here's the deal. If it's habachi seating why is there a mandatory 18% tip. Hey the table is for 8-10 so noithing extra us required of the server or chef. On the other side our chef was a good guy, just didn't know how to cook. The server did not ever bring me my water after the meal as I asked.
