“Wouldnt stay here longer than one night”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2010

We drove to Virginia to see a concert and we stayed at comfort suites for 2 nights then decided we wanted to stay in VA one last night cause we were tired from the concert and didnt wanna drive home so we found this place, since it was cheap, and well it was a non smoking room and it smelled like smoke, and there was an ashtray in the room, which was weird..There was a bug on the ceiling and 2 in the bathroom, not sure what kind of bugs they were, there was a squished spider on the ceiling, and the walls were really dirty, they had unknown squished things and marks all over. The bathroom was tiny but whatever, There was wood nailed to the walls in the bathroom holding up the shower curtain,There were a few cobwebs above the door and wall, The beds were clean surprisingly, There was someone elses old drink in the fridge, and the microwave was really dirty,It was fine since it was one night, but still it kinda grossed me out..

Peeling paint, broken fixtures and a urine smell greeted us when we entered our room. There was plywood screwed to the wall to hold up the shower curtain. The bed linens were stained, the free wi-fi was not accessable. I left a bag behind when my wife got cut on the broken faucet and it "disappeared". The management was rude and condescending when asked about it. You could not pay me enough to stay there again.

The room had a very stuffy unpleasant smell and a dampness in the air. The a/c didn't cool the room very well but we made due. Can't take any food out of the breakfast room with you which is ridiculous but their rule and they will definitely call you on it. If you want an inexpensive motel with a pretty good breakfast, this one is fine.

I booked a room at this facility several weeks in advance of my trip, knowing I would arrive late at night. I arrived at midnite or later and found they had given the room away. I had my family and we were very tired and ready to check in. I was walked to another motel, after some persuasion on my part, that was not at all what we would have wanted. Thanks to this motel our entire trip turned sour due to the lateness of the night and the unacceptable motel we were walked to after our room was given away. What happened to the hospitality in the hospitality business? We sure didn't find it at this location!

This is the lowest priced motel in the area. It's low price is consistent. If you need a place to stay for the night, this is just fine.

I don't understand the reviews praising the hot breakfast. We were taken aback by the whole experience. First, you need a ticket to get your food. You are entitled to two eggs, two pancakes, or one of each. That's the beginning and end of the hot part, except for white bread toast. There were no pastries or muffins. No bagels or any other type of bread other than the white bread. And you were confronted with a big tip jar. Ironic, since tipping cleaning staff is not allowed. We left a cell phone in the room when we left, and had to come back for it. The tip money we had left for the housekeeping staff was given back to us. On the return trip, we didn't even bother with the "hot" breakfast.

The staff, for the most part, is very, very pleasant. Only problem we had was with the manager. When we called for the access code for the wireless internet, no one could understand him. Three of us tried. He began screaming that we should learn how to speak English. We were also refused an extra bottle of shampoo, as the tiny bottle they gave us was just enough for one teenaged girl's head.

The fitness center consisted of a couple of exercise machines, but was closed both times we were there.

Because of the location, and proximity to our final destination, we will probably stay here in the future, just to save money.

Looking for budget motel in Fredericksburg and found the Econo Lodge (can't see motel from road, large sign and entrance immediately after Super 8). Motel is older, room clean, a bit of a smell like many motels but nothing to make me leave, comfortable bed, safe area with many food choices. Free breakfast was a pleasant surprise, hot pancakes and/or eggs, cereal, and other regular continental breakfast items served in a large clean area with plenty of tables. Front desk staff very nice and professional. Room including tax was $52. Not the Hilton, but an acceptable budget motel. We looked at the outside of 2 nearby budget motels, Motel 6, Super 8; Econo Lodge had the best appearance.
Note: We first stopped at the Days Inn South across the street, actually checked in even though gut said no (always listen to the gut), room so smelly could not stay, large white flecks on carpet (paint chips??), dirty bathroom, left immediately returned to office didn't want another room, was told credit card would not be processed....guess what, I was charged but one way or another will have it credited.

When I made our reservation at this hotel, I wasn't expecting much since the price was so good, but our stay was ghastly. There was an overpowering stench in the room that was nauseating, and the safety lock on the door was broken. This was especially troubling because guests were being assigned to rooms that were already occupied. In the few minutes I was at the front desk, three people came in with this complaint. I requested another room, and the very courteous desk clerk obliged me, but the second room stank just as badly. Between the highway noise (the hotel backs to I-95), worrying about someone accidentally trying to enter our room during the night, plus the horrible smell, I knew we wouldn't be able to rest, so we left and found another hotel. We would have saved money if we had booked our room at a quality hotel in the first place.
