Quality Inn near Historic Downtown
Ranked #19 of 41 Hotels in Fredericksburg
Reviewed October 15, 2006

We stayed here because we were stuck in traffic and didn't get quite as far as we planned to. The reservation was made through the Choice Hotels central reservation number. The price was good (particularly using the "over 60" (aka old folks) rate. We asked about a fee for pets, because we travel with our three tiny dogs. We were told it was $8. Seemed good.

The main problem appeared when we checked out. I found out that the fee for the dogs was per dog, and not per room. This was the first place we encounted such a way of pricing.

There was also construction being done on one side of the motel. Noisy in the morning. The person at the front desk didn't suggest that we stay on the other side of the building.

The room was OK, and if not for the extra and unexpectedly high pet fee, it was a good value.

A plus was a very nice place to eat we found nearby. Burger and Kebab Place, a halal Pakistani restaurant a short distance away. Great food, and the most basic of decor.

I was bitten by bedbugs during my stay at this motel. I do NOT recommend staying there. I have over 200 bites and suffered a great deal.

This guest stayed 3 nights. Reguested no housekeeping service for 2 of the three days. Guest never called the front desk staff to imform them of any problems she may have had wth her room. Checked out with no complaints.
After a few weeks guest complained to our corporate office which contacted this hotel to imform us of this complaint. We called the exterminator to come out and check the room for any kind of insects or bed bugs. No bed bugs or insects of any kind were found. This room has been rented out every night since with no complaints of other guests complaining of bug bites of any kind.

This is not one of the jewels in the Quality Inn system. After changing rooms we got one that was acceptable, but not near as nice as some of the Quality Inns we have come to expect.
Our first room was extreamly tired and had a piece out of the door that a rat could easily come through.
The desk clerk stated that it must have just happened, however we stayed there two nights and I kept checking to see if it got fixed. It never did and they continued to rent the room.
Emeralds does not exist anymore. It is now a Pizza joint with bad food. The lounge is no longer open. Perhaps they should update their web site.Breakfast was average at best.
Just one other note. If you are travelling and have car trouble do not use Brauning Automotive 3401 Spotsylvania Mall Dr Fredericksburg, VA. They charged me 250.00 /hour for labour to change a waterpump, plus 50.00 to diagnose the problem that had been diagnosed in Pennsylvania for free.

One of the cleanest hotels I have ever seen. Location is excellent in relation to Interstate-95 and local eateries. Rooms have been completely renovated. They are quiet and extremely comfortable. The onsite restaurant (Emeralds) is excellent! Staff are really nice and helpful, especially Ned. The breakfast is very good. I will definately stay here again.

While vacationing in the Fredericksburg area (from Missouri), we stayed at the Quality Inn for 11 nights. The only problem was that there were no towels when we arrived, but that was quickly taken care of and the rest of our visit was as perfect as they could have made it. The hotel is not fancy, but is very reasonably priced, clean and is perfectly lo0cated with interstate and local driving routes easily accessable. The staff is very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in us and our stay. Like I said, if you're lookinf for a five-star hotel with all the fluff and fancy, we suggest you look elsewhere. But if you're looking to save a few dollars and have a great stay, we couldn't imagine finding any place better. Enjoy the pool!!!

Without a doubt this is the cleaniest motel in the Fredericksburg area. The staff is so friendly and very helpful on all area events and happenings. Our stay was for 4 days and we were amazed how clean the hskg-ing staff was in changing our sheets everyday. Very clean motel and traveler friendly. Lots of sites to see in the area concerning the civil war.

Despite some heavy showers and winds on Friday evening, the event celebrating the 140 year anniversary of the Battle of Spotsylvania was enjoyable and informative. "Wagon-train" shuttles traveled back and forth to the parking lots. Personnel in charge of the event were very helpful. The large number of participants made the "battles" more meaningful, and the re-enactors were very willing to discuss tactics, history, and aspects of Civil War life to those of all ages. Accomodations were pleasant at the nearby Fredericksburg Quality Inn enhanced by a continental breakfast and a restaurant within walking distance.
