My wife and I spent 5 nights at "On the Park" and planned to see boston. First of all the train station to center city is about 10 minutes walk but the train itself is very slow and takes about 25 mintues to reach center boston!
The room was clean but during our entire stay no one changed out towels or cleaned it.
Betsy and Marcos were nice and gave us a good map that we returned at the end of our stay. The big problem is that their breakfast was always the same, without variety and the worst part is that on our last day we had received for breakfast spoiled yogurt that smelled horrible. Marcos did apologize but unfortunately it wasn't enough since I already had stomach aches from the previous day when Marcos smelled the milk for my coffee (to make sure it was ok), gave it to me and still it must have turned sour!

We were very disappointed to see this review and welcome the chance to respond to it. When we reply to inquiries for our B&B, we describe in our email, that our location is " nearly equidistant (5-8 blocks) to two different branches of the Green Line of the T (Boston's public transportation system) that can take you into the heart of the city in 20 minutes." So the time it took to go downtown by public transportation should have been no surprise. Indeed, many people appreciate the oasis of calm and tranquility that our location offers, while located just blocks away from shops and restaurants, a great book store and a wonderful movie theater.

As with most hotels, inns and B&Bs today, we do not change the towels daily. Each room has an information sheet encouraging people to help themselves to fresh towels whenever they wish, and directing them to our linen closet. Our breakfast has been a source of great compliments from our guests as one can see from our reviews. The basics of breakfast consists of yogurt, granola, fresh fruit salad, and a changing array of freshly baked goods from our local bakeries.

Because the breakfast hour was already completed by the time you came to the dining room on the morning you described, Marcos wanted to be sure that you had fresh milk for your tea and coffee when you arrived. We make every effort to accommodate the needs of our guests and are very sorry that you left disappointed.

Eight family members traveled to Boston to visit our son and his wife. A baby shower was the destination celebration. Staying at ON THE PARK B&B was the perfect location for our "Home away from home." We were greeted with warm hospitality by Betsy and Marcos and all of our family felt at ease and comfortable. Breakfast was healthy and good and two items especially touched the hearts of our grandchildren: Cinammon Bread and Froot Loops for our grandson; not a regular on the menu, but on the table for him due to a peanut allergy. Betsy and Marcos were eager to please! We were quite busy visiting all of the historical sites in Boston, however, my fondest moments were sitting on the lovely porch as the children played in the beautiful neighborhood park. As a bonus experience, Betsy took me for a morning swim at Walden Pond - a memory to treasure! Abundant Thanks, Betsy and Marcos for accomodating our family and for sharing your friendship.

In Boston to visit family and friends, Betsy and Marcos' warm welcome extended that feeling of home. We stayed in a room with a shared bathroom, which took a bit of awareness and planning but was not problematic. Great location near Coolidge Corner with many shops, services and restaurants within walking distance - AND a bike share Hubway located at the end of the street. Will hope to stay again on our next visit to Boston.

Very cosy B&B, you immediatly feel "like home", especially thanks to Betsy & Marco kindness.
Located in a nice (quiet) neighbourhood, yet not far from several streets nearby full of nice restaurants. Walking distance from Tramway which takes you to downtown Boston in 20 minutes.

Booked this B&B, for 4 nights, back in February 2013, as the trip advisor reviews were very good. However, the overall service did not meet the expressed standards as stated in previous reviews.

When we arrived in August at 5pm, it was a surprise to learn that the proprietors were on vacation, not returning until our final evening. There was no one to receive us, but a note was pinned to the main entrance door, addressed to us, explaining where the key could be found and where our room was. It felt a little disconcerting, wondering around someone's home looking for our room and coffee making facilities.

The letter explained that a family member would be serving breakfast each morning. Unfortunately we are not able to comment on the proprietors hospitality as we did not meet them until late the evening before our departure.

Breakfast was simple, fruit, granola and a bagel, or rock cake each, just enough if you have a small appetite. The Bedrooms do not have an ensuite arrangement, but the bed was very comfortable. The shower was temperamental, perhaps could do with a service.
The house is located in a charming suburban neighbourhood, Coolidge Corner being just a short walking distance away. Plenty of fast food type cafe's with the usual type of fast food.

We read, with great regret, your review of our B&B on TripAdvisor, and are deeply sorry that your stay was a disappointing one. Because we are a small, family-run B&B, we are not able to provide 24-7 coverage to welcome each and every one of our guests, so we regularly leave notes for guests when we are unable to be here upon their arrival. Indeed, we indicate in our confirmation emails that this may be the case upon arrival. We appreciate the discomfort this caused you. We have never had similar feedback in the seven years we have had our business.

Like any small business owner, we do need to take time off from time to time, and it's unfortunate that the weekend we took away coincided with your visit. By leaving our adult daughter in charge of the B&B during our absence, we hoped to sustain the same personalized care and service that characterizes our B&B.

Your feedback is important to us and we appreciate your taking the time to write, even though it was painful for us to read.

I had a reservation scheduled on Airbnb in July 2013 that cancelled on me 24 hours before my flight to Boston. Betsy and Marco took me in on short notice and were able to work with my flexible travel plans as my return date was uncertain.

I stayed in a 3rd floor room with a shared bathroom on the 2nd floor. Your bathroom may be right next to your room and it may not, so if this is an issue for you be sure to ask. I stayed during the hottest week of the year and although the temperature in my room would get over 100 degrees during the day, the window AC unit would cool the room down to whatever temperature I desired. There is no central air conditioning in the house although Marco was researching options for the main living area in that regard. I live in Florida so I didn't mind at all. If you're uncomfortable with warmer temperatures it may be something to consider in the summer.

The house was kept impeccably clean. Breakfast was delectable and the assortment of single serve coffee flavors also hit the spot. Coolidge Corner is about a 10 minute walk away with a plethora of retail/restaurant options as well a subway stop on the green line to take you into the city.

The accommodations, the hospitality and the conversation were all wonderful. I would certainly stay again.
