“Excellent beer list, long wait”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

My husband and I went to The Publick House for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We had heard that they had an extensive beer menu and their food menu looked pretty good, too.

We arrived around 7:30 on a Tuesday night and the place was packed to the rafters. There was not a space at the bar, not a seat to be had. We had our hearts set on finally trying the place out, however, so when we were told that the wait would be around 45 minutes we agreed to wait. The staff will take your cell phone number and call or text you when a table opens up, so you don't have to stand around the front door waiting, you're free to roam the neighborhood.

We did receive a call about an hour later, and were promptly seated when we walked in the door. Service from this point on was great. Our server was knowledgeable with respect to the beer menu and made some great recommendations. He came back quickly with our drinks and our food order was taken promptly and brought out in a reasonable amount of time, especially when the place was clearly very busy.

Everything we sampled was tasty. We loved our beers. I tried the mac & cheese for dinner and was not disappointed. My husband tried a couple of items from the appetizer menu and enjoyed them both.

If you enjoy discovering new beers, or enjoying some tasty (but pricey) favorites, I would absolutely recommend a trip here. The prices for the food are a little bit on the high side for what you get, and the beer prices are high but in the realm of what is to be expected for such delicious gems.

“awesome selection of beer with friendly and prompt service”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

They have a great selection of beer. The service is friendly and prompt. The music is a bit loud so its hard to hold a conversation with everyone at the table if you are in a group.

“Awesome Beer Selection - Pairs Perfectly with the Food”
Reviewed December 28, 2011

Beer:
- Chouffe Bière du Soleil
- Maredsous Blonde

Both beers that I tried were blonde, and they were both delicious. I preferred the Maredsous; it was a bit lighter.

Appetizer:
- Monk's Frites w/ 2 sauces -- garlic asiago mayo and beer mustard

Perfectly cooked, I could have eaten these all day.

Entree:
- Stuffed Bell Pepper over a bed of spinach. So rare to see this on a restaurant menu, and a welcome surprise! Tasted really good and the portion was huge. Would definitely order this again.

My husband and I came here for drinks and snacks on a Friday night. Remy, the bartender, was very friendly and made good drinks too! Kudos to all the bar staff for keeping up great conversation. Lots of fun!
