Description: Barcelona meets Brookline, and a sophisticated Boston neighborhood has a wine bar to call its own. A historic town located minutes from downtown Boston, Brookline is the perfect mixture of urban and country living. From large estates and recreational parks to boutiques and pedestrian-filled streets, Brookline offers a city atmosphere in a suburban setting. Located in Washington Square at 1700 Beacon Street, Barcelona is the newest addition to this lively neighborhood dining destination. A mix of antique wire glass, steel and reclaimed wood gives our newly built space a vintage appeal. The rustic, polished environment is the next best thing to eating tapas and drinking wine in our restaurant's namesake city. With hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and spacious patio, the space has a European charm which fills the menu as well.

stunning, brilliant and exceptional!
great atmosphere with three options depending on your mood - noisy buzzing bar area for pincho eating; informal table area for general tapas or a white table-cloth area where we were. excellent service (really attentive but not in your face), excellent knowledge and explanation of ingredients etc; perfect wine list with a broad selection of sherries (always a good sign in my opinion) and tips of what to match with our tapas!
the presentation of food was beautiful with a keen attention to detail and everything came at a gentle pace. despite being seriously in demand for tables on the night we were not hurried in any way.
this restaurant is an absolute gem and a must for any lovers of Spanish food/wine. well done to the owners - i will return! 10 out of 10

Bounty because of all Barcelona's superlatives--location, availability of parking, atmosphere, menu novelties, service, and mostl importantly, the food! We were looking for a light Sunday midday meal, and my daughter, a Brookline resident, recommended Barcelona. We were totally delighted by the place! The food I ordered was extremely tasty--a beet and grapefruit salad with pistachios. crispy calamari, and a to-die-for apple cobbler. The tapas portions were ideal for lunch! A high recommendation for Barcelona!

We only stuck with tapas. Eggplant appetizer- flavorful but unevenly heated in microwave. MUSHROOM SALAD - green salad with extra slices of mushrooms, way too much salt. Not flavorful. KALE CHIPS - somewhat flavorful. Way, way too salty. MUSCLES -outrageously flavorful. Cooked in excellent broth! CHORIZO & FIGS- excellent combo. That was or favorite of the night. SLICED(skirt?) STEAK- cooked nice and rare but was cooked the night before and refrigerated, sliced, heated in microwave. Carefully placed gravy like sauce. Also microwave heated. Ok in flavor. One can tell only because dishes are unevenly heated. The service was impeccable. But, the chef needs more help in the kitchen, so the customers can get cook to order dishes.

The Barcelona opened and was immediately crowded every time I went by. I finally got to try it and enjoyed it. The Tapas menu offers so many choices it was hard to decide. There is also a selection of Meat & Cheese, Paella, Meat and Fish Dishes and Mixed Grill. We decided to try the Whipped Sheep's cheese, Kale salad, Golden Beet salad, and an order of the Suckling Pig. Everything was delicious. The service was excellent. I did find the restaurant noisy which I mentioned to the manager when he stopped by to ask about our dining experience (thank you). I understand it's a challenge in that space, but they should turn off the music or find something better to play.
