We chose The Fireplace because it is near my daughter's apartment in Brookline and we wanted her (with no car) to get to the restaurant with ease. I looked at the menu on line and was not blown away, but thought it was adequate. I was wrong!
They had just brought out their new summer menu; there is something for everyone, whether vegetarian, carnivore, or something in between. I consider myself a short rib expert; their short rib was outstanding! It was very tender and flavorful, served with garlicky broccoli and warm potato salad. My husband (who eats fish, but no meat) enjoyed his scallops with lobster hash immensely. Both my daughter and her boyfriend had the night's special, pan seared cod, and they both raved.
Our server was excellent.
My only complaint is the layout of the tables in the room. They are at odd angles and it feels crowded. A small thing that is not going to keep us away!
