I'm a vegetarian and so I appreciate the unique sushi ingredients used at Genki Ya, such as banana, mango and cream cheese. My parents are more traditional sushi eaters and also loved their rolls!

Great maki rolls and service. You also have the options of requesting brown rice instead of white rice. They typically don't take reservation, but worth the wait.

Service is bad. Push you to leave once you're done. They give you the bill very fast especially when there are people waiting. Nothing is good about the food. There are not much chooses of sushi. Menu is very colorful but all sushi is similar and is expensive though. Rice is very sour. I personally love Japanese food. But this restaurant is not original home made. Not worth to try.

it's just a neighborhood sushi joint, nothing too swanky or chic, but the sushi is always fresh and the waitstaff is always friendly. the sunset roll is very good. they also have a great lunch special on weekdays.

Blink and you'll miss this restaurant in my neighborhood... but I recommend you avoid blinking as you're walking down this stretch of Harvard Street, and instead drop in for both contemporary & classic sushi. I love their Spicy Scallop roll, as well as some of the off-beat fruit-based rolls. Definitely start with the shumai. Oh my I'm getting a craving just writing this.

The service is also great -- the restaurant is frequently crowded as it is quite small, but they'll do whatever they can to get you seated quickly, and sometimes (mainly when they're not so busy), they'll give you a complimentary dessert to cap off the great meal!
