Longwood Inn
Ranked #7 of 11 Brookline B&B and Inns

This and the Samuel Sewall Inn are very similar as they are both bed and breakfasts in Brookline and are only a block or so apart and conveniently located a block or two from the metro stop. I stayed at them both in May and prefer this one because our room had an air conditioner, nice TV, and there was a big kitchen/refrigerator to cook in, had laundry facilities, and it was cheaper. To be fair, the Samuel Sewall Inn had free breakfast and newspapers but no laundry facilities or kitchen or air conditioner. I think the Longview's facilities and cheaper price more than make up for the free breakfast and newspapers.

Our second trip to the Longwood Inn found it pretty much frozen in time, everything the same as our stay two years ago. Nice place to stay, great kitchen facilities, close to subway, grocery stores, etc. Only downside is sloppy management, they pretty much ignore e-mails and make lots of little mistakes in reservations, double check your bills to make sure the amount is correct and call at least twice to confirm your reservation. Mattresses could be firmer. Apart from those little things it is a good choice, I would recommend it for famillies and budget travellers who want to want to save on meals.

Tlhis Inn has all the charm and character expected of a small New England town right in the Big City. Clean, comfortable accommodations and a friendly, helpful staff gives your stay a family atmosphere. People not familiar with Inns must understand the concept of an Inn to appreciate the Longwood. Close proximity to T and many restaurants, uniques shops and a Trader Joe's. We would all (13 of us) most definitely stay there again.

The Longwood Inn is very well located for visits to the hospitals and medical school and the small colleges nearby. It provides extremely convenient access to the Green Line of the MTA, and is also a decent walk to the Museum of Fine Arts.

The community kitchen is a nice idea, but the capacity is so small that one small family eating breakfast means that you must hang out and wait to use it. The room was comfortable and plainly furnished. There was fairly little floor space, though adequate closet and dresser space.

In all, the accommodations were clean and relatively comfortable, but did not offer much else beyond a great location.

the Longwood Inn is a fantastic place to stay. Imagine! Free parking and just blocks from mass transit. There is a shared kitchen with high-end appliances and room furnishings were updated. Otherwise, this is a lovely old mansion.

I had a very nice stay here while attending a conference in Brookline (Boston). The Longwood Inn is a Victorian House that has been renovated but still has kept its charm. My room was small but very nicely laid out and comfortable, with new bedding, new LCD screen tv with cable, new bathroom, AC, and free wireless. My bathroom was spotless and there was plenty of hot water. (It looks like some rooms do not have their own bathroom, mine did.) The inn has a fully equipped kitchen for guests who would like to store / heat up restaurant leftovers (or perhaps food from Trader Joes, which is nearby), but breakfast is not included. There is a large dining room, sitting room, and also cafe tables out in front of the inn where guests can relax. The place is spotless, and the location is great. While I was in Brookline for a conference, the Inn is very convenient by public transit to the airport and to downtown Boston. It's an affordable alternative to pricey and mediocre hotels and I think a nicer and more memorable way to visit. Note: there is no elevator.
