This is an amazing resource so close to the city with exceptional sailing and rowing. For people who complain of water quality issues you need to launch your boat in the Willamette and spend the afternoon wiping fecal matter and pollution off the hull to recognize the asset we have in Vancouver. Willamette Sailing Club hosts events on the lake as well due to the excellent conditions.
People need to let go of this dying lake comment. All lakes are "dying" as they are slowly being filled in by silt due to errosion. It's a normal geologic process.
Algae bloom is limited to August in years with high temperatures and low water levels. Since 2010 bloom has been limited or non-existent depending on where you are on the lake.
