“OK EXPERIENCE”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Have been eating at various McGraths for a number of years and for the most part, have had good experiences. Stacy, our server, was very good. However, despite it not being crowded, the kitchen was quite slow. It took us 45 minutes between the time we ordered and time our entrees arrived. Tried several items from the fall menu. The shrimp augratin sauce was a little runny although the shrimp were quite good. The crab cake sandwich was very tasty. If we were in the area again, would probably try someplace else.

“Poor food, forgot half of the food, fish WAY over cooked!”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Went there this evening with my Daughter and her family. Seemed like a very busy place. Took 15 minutes to get a table. When it came to service, it was poor at best. My Daughter has dietary restrictions, which don't allow dairy. When the wait staff was quizzed about an item, they had no clue. Had to ask the cook which really did't know! We ordered, and everyones fish was way over cooked. The Halibut was dry, the Razor clams were black on the bottom. They got my wife's order completely wrong. Her fish was dismally over cooked. No complaints from us because it took 30 plus minutes to get served. With 2 small children getting very restless and tired, to have to wait any longer could have spelled a meltdown from the little guys. For the price paid, I was very dissapointed.

“Should have gone elsewhere”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

First if all, Sandy was a great server and the food issues were not her fault.

First the oysters were horrible, slimy and yucky even for oysters.

The main course involved some steak and crab cakes and steak came out well done after asking for it medium. The 2nd steak just didn't work out either but ate some of it as I was hungry.

“Below Average, Overpriced, Uninspired Cuisine”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We arrived in early evening. The restaurant was half full and we were seated promptly. The waiter came promptly and took our drink orders and brought a basket of tasty warm bread. My wife and I selected the wood fired halibut dinner for $18.99. The menu said halibut was in season but it appears halibut is always in season there as it sits in the freezer. The fish portion was small and overcooked. Dry with a tough crust on the bottom. The vegetables were also fresh from the freezer. They did get the baked potato right which may have been the only fresh entrée on the plate. After we finished eating our high strung waiter rushed over to clean our table. He clumsily knocked over a half full drink and only a mad grab for a napkin kept it from dousing my wife and I. He did replace the drink. We keep bouncing from restaurant to restaurant in Vancouver hoping to find a good one. McGrath's was not it. Perhaps there are none.

“Excellent! Food, Service, and Manager!”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We had a family meal here tonight - weren't sure if we would be 6 or 4; asked for a larger table in case it was 6 - the Manager, David, I believe, took us to a larger table and began making room for 6 - phone rang, the last couple cancelled, and we informed the poor manager he needed to put the tables back as they had been. He was delightful; not the tiniest bit cranky - put the tables right back with a smile. Not too common, these days. Food was excellent, as always - my favorite is the stuffed prawns. Our server was quick, competent, friendly, and delightful. Excellent sourdough bread, by the way!
