The area is like a park. The buildings and lawn are very well maintained. We were there after hours but enjoyed the walk and the cellphone tour that was provided. Very informative and interesting.

Interesting history about the fort. I recommend watching the 25 minute video they offer, it really explains alot. There is walking and steps, so not the greatest place for elderly folks Friendly staff and a gift shop. Worth the stop.

This is the most picturesque Indian fort still around and it has been restored to its original grandeur, contains many buildings and displays. It is right in downtown Fort Scott which is also very historic and has lots of eateries and antique shops.

It's best enjoyed when special programs are going on, so check the website. The docents and re-enactors make the place.

Learned a great deal from the docent on duty at the Fort. Civil war, American history, and Union soldier ghosts all came to life. Enjoyable exhibits with personal docent tours, cell phone narratives, or signs with historical facts at every turn. Well maintained, clean, enjoyable. Allow no less than one hour for the Fort--more if you're a history buff.
