What a beautiful bar! And Spencer, the bartender, was a gracious host. The drinks were perfect. How have I overlooked this place? We will definitely be back.

Located beside the Marshall Hotel on Broughton the restaurant is an excellent choice for a meal. I had the Boston salad with red leaf lettuce and dried tomatoes, fried shoestring potatoes, basil vinaigrette with herbal chèvre. One of the best dinner salads I have ever had! My wife had the grilled Caesar salad. For entrees I had Duck Two Ways. It was a pan seared breast confit thigh and leg with sautéed escarole and roasted baby beets, carrots and roasted duck gastrique. My wife had the pan seared grouper with dried tomatoes and pomme frites. We have a wonderful meal. Recommend it highly!

Funny, isn't it? When the service isn't up to scratch at a bar, it clouds your opinion of the place.
We'd gathered for early-evening drinks at the 45 Bistro - the elegant bar, with intriguing paintings around the walls - under the Marshall House hotel in Savannah.
But when we ordered our drinks as we sat at the bar, it was as if we'd disturbed the bartender and interrupted his important business.
Offhand would be putting it nicely.
He sashayed around, taking his time and handed our drinks over with all the grace and dignity of a quivering blancmange.
We enjoyed looking at the art in the bar, but we all vowed we wouldn't return to try the food, even though it looked good.
Shame, as the atmosphere was nice, and the dark wood gives it an intimate feel. A gin and tonic was $8, so the prices are reasonable.
Jazz saxophone music was playing.
If the staff can't be bothered, neither can we.

We dropped by for dinner after a day sightseeing downtown and had the most wonderful meal with a stellar staff. Beef carpaccio is one of their specialties so we started with that and it did not disappoint! For our entrees, I had grouper, he had salmon, both were outstanding. The bartender made a lovely wine recommendation. We had a fantastic creme brûlée for dessert. We couldn’t have been more pleased. I’m gluten free and would highly recommend this place as a must go for anyone who has dietary restrictions, they were very kind. It is worth noting, their dining room actually opens at 6:00, their bar is open at 5:00, but they aren’t serving dinner yet. The staff situated us at the bar until dinner service was open which is more than fine after a hot day on the streets.
