We found a deal for this place on hotels.com. Standard room was real small and smelled like old carpet, in dire need of renovation. But they upgraded us to a suite with balcony for not much extra, thank you for that! Good with discount for two nights.
The suite room is a bit on the dark side, with dark brown furnitre, dark carpet, and old tube TVs. Not the highest standard one could find nor the best craftmanship in construction, but it was clean and did not smell. Direct access to the pool. The rooms really could use some better lights.
Beds good, although the aircon which started and stopped all the time is quite on the loud side.
The kitchen has 6 large cabinets, but nothing in there. It would be good to have at least a few glasses and a trash bin under the sink for coffee bags etc ? The coffee maker station has to be the cheapest possible around, the size of a caravan model.
Pool as mentioned is right outside the door. Officially the pool closes around 9pm, but hotel staff takes no action if the pool is full of loud guests even at 10pm. Shame if you happen to wish for an early night.
The pool looks nice, although the setup where guests have to walk past the pool with luggage is a little strange.
Now the breakfast: it ends at 9:30am. SHARP. I have never (ever) seen a hotel where staff directly removes bread, pancake mix and utensils in front of guests that are about to take it. What a strange and unfriendly way to act! The breakfast ran out of milk and coffee 30 mins before breakfast ended. Fresh coffee not brewed until after everything was cleared up. The service for breakfast quite unfriendly when inquired about the milk "Sorry hon, it's not working" (milk dispenser). This was after we several times where told how to use it. No, we are NOT that stupid..
Is this the way Day's Inn is responding to guests ?
Finally room service: we were approached at 9:30. by 3 indian people that spoke very little english asking if we wanted room service. At that time we were still packing for the day, so we declined saying we would be out soon. Well, that was our chance.. room NOT cleaned up.
All in all, it's an OK place to sleep, price is reasonable, but I will subtract several points because of the (lack of) friendly service that seems to be the standard here.
Strongly recommend management to tighten up on service, this place has potential. Especially with some renovation.
