We are loyal Marriott customers and were upgraded to an upper floor balcony room. We particularly liked the location...close enough to walk to River Street and surrounding areas, yet right on the river, with a fabulous patio on the river, great for having morning coffee and watching the freighters, or an evening cocktail and seeing the town's lights. I would definitely stay here again!

We decided at the last minute to go to Savannah. Our favorite hotel, the Hyatt Regency was totally sold out so we booked a junior suite at the Marriott. Julie, at the front desk was wonderful at check-in. The room was spacious and we appreciated having a second television for our son to watch in the living room. The view was of an air conditioning unit which we definitely didn't like. Having the indoor pool in the middle of the lobby was definitely not appealing. We didn't even use it because it was not comfortable to use with a conference going on at the same time. After checking in, we discovered that the ferry to the fun spots on River Street only ran until 6:30pm. This necessitated walking in the drizzle and dark back to the hotel after dinner. It definitely was uncomfortable and it didn't feel especially safe at night. River Street is a great area, filled with artists and street musicians. When you stay at the Marriott, you definitely are not part of that excitement as you would be at the Bohemian or the Hyatt. As I said, the staff was really nice and the rooms were large and clean. It just wasn't at all what we expected.

Room Tip: If you're going to pay that kind of money, make sure you have a riverview room.

The hotel is well appointed with the usual Marriott appointments. It is located on the Savannah Riverwalk and it is always exciting to see a gigantic ship go sailing past your window. Once you experience that, you will know what I mean. The service was excellent. From check-in to check-out I found the staff helpful and courteous. At times I felt they took extra trouble to be helpful. The hotel features an atrium in the lobby which is nice and an indoor pool which can be used year around. The rooms were nicely done and what you would expect from a nice Marriott. I found the entire property clean and well maintained

It is close to the stores and restaurants on the Riverwalk and downtown but is a healthy walk away. Transportation is available. The location is fine if it only was a bit closer. You do get the sense you are somewhat isolated. It is more of a modern facility and lacks some of the “southern charm” of the other hotels. It feels like a convention hotel. If you go out for dinner during the Summer, you are either going to need to drive or take a taxi.

If it was not for the occasional passing ship RIGHT BY YOUR WINDOW you would have a difficult time remembering you were in such a charming, historic southern town. For business or corporate events this is fine. That being said, however, it is a nice, well-run hotel for your base of operations during a stay in Savannah.

Stayed at the Riverfront Marriott. Great location with just a short walk to the downtown action. The rooms were nicely appointed, not the JW or Ritz but very nice. Get a room with a river view and a balcony if you can get upgraded ( join the Marriott Rewards program). The balcony was a very nice way to relax and view the river traffic. The bellmen (and women) are great, always cheerful and helpful. Had breakfast in the Blue, great fruit selection and a view of the river. You can catch a ferry (free) to and from the downtown wharf. It leaves twice an hour. Miss it and it still but a short walk. Also had drinks and tapas at the Bohemian Marriott at Rocks on the Roof, great view also.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony, riverfront if possible. Book riverfront and ask for an upgrade if availa...

this hotel should be ashamed to have the Marriott name. My husband and I "attempted " to check in for memorial day weekend for a 2 night stay. We are gold members and travel 2-3 times a month for personal and business travel and LOVE marriotts. Well we were upgraded to a suite and when i checked the mattress (i am in the textile business and know that you MUST check a hotel mattress for bedbugs etc) it was disgusting. It was very stained all over. We immediately asked for another room and were given one. Well the next room was exactly the same, very stained all over mattress. When we went to the front desk to tell them we were leaving and why, they didnt care nor did a manager come out to apologize. Luckily the Bohemian had a room available and we checked in there. This was the worst Marriott experience of our lives and i have NEVER seen such disgusting mattresses. Trust me don't book this place.

My wife and I, with two of our grandchildren have just returned from five days at the Savannah Riverfront Marriott and we could not have asked for any better service.

Check-in was FANTASTIC. I walked up to the from desk and was greeted by Sydney who promptly said "Welcome back Mr. Buzz. I took care of you last year," and that she did. She has since been promoted to head of the Front Desk and they could not have picked a finer person. With Sydney working for you, nothing is left to chance and our check-in and our room were just what we wanted and she remembered the floor we liked.

The indoor pool is still fantastic, but the only "downer" was that the indoor whirlpool that was next to the pool is now a palm tree. When I questioned the staff as to what happened our favorite relaxation spot after a day of meetings, we found out that it was not ADA compliant (no lift for people who could not walk down the two steps) and it had to go. The pool is ADA compliant and has a lift if it were ever needed. The staff told me that this had happened to a number of places in Savannah.

Our room was spotless and up to date. Very comfortable beds, clean linens, spotlessly clean bathroom with all the little bottles of lotions and soaps.

If there was a negative about the room, it really wasn't with the room itself but with the wireless access point located three rooms down from us that was not working so...so much for the Ipads and data on cell phones. I worked a bit with their tech support folks who were most accommodating, but they just couldn't get a new access point there for the weekend. It really wasn't a big loss because we could use these devices in other parts of the hotel, and we did have a lap top with us that connected right up on their high speed wired network in our room. So...no foul and I guess it really got us off the devices so we could enjoy more family time when we were in the room.

Blue, their restaurant has a fantastic breakfast buffet of which we partook, and yes, we were spoiled by, not the wait staff which were just ordinary, but by Mr. Charlie who was cooking omelets and waffles to your personal specifications and the lady charged with keeping the buffet filled. By the end of the breakfast, you really had two new "best" friends who wanted to make you come back.

It's a great location and you are just a few steps from the cobblestones of River Street and all of the excitement and a few steps from the Water Taxi that will whisk you across the river to the island for meetings or to just ride to the Westin Hotel Complex.

Rather then move our car, we just took a taxi for an inexpensive ride to the happening downtown district of Savannah and the couple of dollars was well worth not having to try and find a parking space or pay $10 in a lot close to a restaurant.

The taxi ride home was a unique experience because I stopped this young college age fellow who was driving a bicycle two seater taxi and he said "sure" when I asked if he would take up back to the Marriott on the Riverfront. He told us all about himself and the areas of the city we passed through with the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees and the beautiful breezes of this southern night making it just perfect for my wife and myself. Couples, forget the horse drawn carriages and go for this bicycle taxi and you will LOVE IT.

If everyone is well, we will be back in Savannah again next June and guess where we plan to stay?

Room Tip: Ask for a Riverview if you want to enjoy the low tones of whistle of the cargo container ships comin...

We have stayed in this hotel several times for my husband's work. We love the ambiance, soft beds, and maid service, but were very disappointed that the pool amenities are not what they used to be. The indoor pool was freezing cold, and they have removed the hot tub. The kids swam for 10 minutes then got out with teeth chattering and crying to go back to the room. It was raining, so we could not try the outdoor pool. We ended up staying at Comfort Inn Suites the next night. Not as good of a location, but still in the historic district, a better value, super nice room, free wi-fi, free breakfast, and most importantly for the kids, a nice warm indoor pool and hot tub!
