“Inconvenient for government employees”

Be aware that this hotel charges an additional dollar for an "occupancy fee", which seems a little ridiculous. That should be included in the rate. I usually wouldn't mind, but when schools issue checks for tax exempt rooms, this hidden fee has to come out of the employee's pocket. This is the only hotel that has given us this problem.

This hotel is "down the hill" from downtown Savannah which could be interpreted as a negative. I like it. I can get to downtown three ways: walking, free shuttle, or (the best way) by water taxi...all free, by the way. My only reason for making it four dots vs. five dots is that you really want a river view room.

Wide halls, great beds and pillows, and big TV's. What else is there?

We stayed at this hotel the weekend before Halloween and it was a great location, nice amenities. The problem was that across the river you could hear constant drag racing noise beginning at around 8 am.

I always stay here. I enjoy walking to most places and restaurants. You can also catch the free ferry right outside by the dock. There are no surprises and the quality is top notch. As a frequent customer, you may get upgrades. This is my first choice in this city.

Room Tip: See if waterfront rooms or suites are available.

My husband & I stayed here recently. When we arrived early..well before check.in time..we were allowed to register and were given a room. It was AWFUL..Just above all the air conditioner units for the entire hotel. Not only was the view atrocious , the constant roar from the giant units was most annoying. As soon as we got up the next day, I went to the front desk & requested another room and was immediately & courteously assigned one on another floor. Sydney at the front dest was most helpful while we were there. The young lady tending bar in the lobby was very friendly, also. A couple of notes: not everyone gets the great river view. We had a view if the front of the building..not terrible , but not the river. There are many places in the hotel that allow great views other than your balcony in your room. Also, the hotel is at the far eastern end of River Street. It is conveniently located but not in the middle of everything. Savannah is a walking town and this hotel adds to the walking. There are others that are more centrally located. The parking is easy in & easy out.

Room Tip: You can ask for a river view, it.s not always available. 8th floor has the hospitality room. Drink...

My mom and I just spent a long weekend at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront. I ran the Rock and Roll Savannah Half Marathon on Saturday. The hotel is located in an excellent spot for both running that race and for exploring the city. It is at the end of the Riverwalk that connects you to River Street and all of its shops and restaurants. It is a few blocks from Bay Street as well with additional restaurants. A 15-20 minute walk from the hotel will get you right into the heart of the historic district, city market, and a bunch of the other attractions of the city. Also, we utilized the trolley tour service which was an excellent way to learn about and tour the city--it stops right at the Marriott hotel.

The staff at the Marriott were all outstanding. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We had three meals at the Blue restaurant inside the hotel. The breakfast buffet was very delicious. We especially enjoyed the made to order omelets and waffles by DJ the "Waffle Man."

We had a riverfront room which had an excellent view of the river. I would recommend reserving this type of room. It is amazing to watch the huge cargo ships going up and down the river.

This hotel is an excellent choice for a trip to Savannah.

My sister and I stayed here for one night on our way back from Florida and it was the perfect location. The room was great and had a beautiful view of the river and of the riverfront. If you don't want to drive to the shops and restaurants on the riverfront you can walk. We drove and had no problem finding parking. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river with a balcony.
